Five Element Theory serves as the foundation of healing from a Chinese medicine perspective. This lesson explores the Five Elements and how they relate to your body. You will also discover the roots of this practice in ancient Taoist teachings and how qigong healing sounds are an easy-to-use tool to overcome harmful effects of modern life. By working with the elements, practitioners maintain or restore normal balance among the vital energies that govern the internal organs and regulate their related functions and tissues.

Contraindications: Times You Should Not Do Healing Sounds Qigong
The resonating sounds have a strong effect on the tissues, therefore people who have broken or fractured bones are forbidden to practice sound therapy. Due to the stimulating effect of Healing Sound Therapy, you must not do healing tones in a very acute stage of illness, or you may stimulate the virus or bacterial growth. Women are prohibited from practicing Tone Resonation therapy when pregnant or menstruating. The tone resonations have a pattern of dispersing clots and may lead to spontaneous miscarriages. It is also important for a woman's body to be allowed to naturally Purge Toxic Blood from the body during menstruation.

Lung System: The Metal Element
The Lungs and Large Intestine are associated with the Metal Element. When Metal is balance, these organs support your immunity, digestion, and circulation (all the blood vessels lead to the Lungs). Emotionally, a balanced Metal Element enhances attributes of dignity, integrity, and high self-esteem. You will learn the healing sounds for both the physical and emotional healing of the Lung System. Metal symbolizes refinement, letting go, and expansion. The organs associated with metal are the lungs and large intestine. These healing sounds allow you to let go of what no longer serves you and embody the upright integrity of the metal element.

Kidney System: The Water Element
Your Kidneys, Adrenals, and Urinary Bladder are the organs in the Kidney System. Physically, as you balance these organs you enhance longevity, slow pre-mature aging, and activate the parasympathetic nervous system. The emotional healing sounds help you overcome jealousy, suspicion, and long-standing grudges, as well as fear. Cognitively your memory and clarity of thought thrive when balanced with healing sounds. Plus, you will find your will power. Water symbolizes deep inner wisdom, going with the flow and being. The organs associated with water are the kidneys and urinary bladder. The healing sounds of the Water element embody the flow of water.

Liver System: The Wood Element
The Liver System includes the Liver and Gallbladder. Problems with the muscles (other than muscle tone), tendons, or ligaments result from imbalance in the Liver. Think how often you say, “My shoulders are so tight,” etc. That’s your liver. Emotionally, when the liver is in balance, you are filled with kindness, benevolence, compassion, and generosity. Your creativity will also thrive, as will decisiveness (a psychological feature of the gallbladder). Wood symbolizes change, action, drive, and accomplishment. The healing sounds of the wood element embody change.

Heart System: The Fire Element
The Heart and Small Intestine are associated with the Fire Element. When Fire balanced, these organs have health and vitality, which enables you have physical endurance and resilience against various heart and intestinal issues. The positive emotions of Fire include love, joy, and excitement. When balanced within you, it’s easier to feel inspired, full of life, and deeply connected to your loved ones. Fire symbolizes playful, lively, spiraling upward energy and inspiration. The healing sounds of the fire element embody the fun, creative energy of fire.

Spleen System: The Earth Element
The Spleen System includes the Spleen, Stomach, and Pancreas. The healing sounds you will learn in this lesson support digestion, flexible and firm muscles and veins, and efficient processing of nutrients essential for your health. Emotionally, you will experience tools to calm an overthinking and worry, severe anxiety, and confusion. They will also improve memory, cognition, and analytical thinking. Earth symbolizes nurturing welcoming receiving and trustworthy energy The healing sounds of the Earth element embody the communal, stable energy of earth.

The Triple Burner
The Triple Burner, or Triple Warmer, is the system that connects and coordinates the smooth movement of energy between all the organ systems. The sound Xi (SHE) regulates the Triple Burners. This sound is used to eliminate excess heat, and to treat rheumatism, poor circulation, and problems of the Triple Burners. This exercise helps to recharge the body's Qi metabolism, regulate Internal Qi, and balance the eight systems of the body (respiratory, digestive, reproductive, circulatory, lymphatic, nervous, muscular/skeletal, and excretory systems). Emotionally, this healing sound helps you feel centered and less scattered.

Healing Sounds Meditation Practice: Healing the Body
In this lesson you will enjoy a full flow of the Qigong Healing Sounds for the Body. The class begins with the Wu Zang meditation to allow the free circulation of Qi, making the Qi energy more accessible for healing. Then you will do a full flow of the vocalized healing sounds for your body. We will practice the five healing sounds in the sequential order of the Water Cycle: Liver (Shu), Kidneys (Chree), Lungs (Zzz), Spleen (Hoo), Heart (Haa), and Triple Burner (Shee). This path helps off-set the intense yang energy experienced by most people in the west.

Healing Sounds Meditation Practice: Healing the Emotions
In this lesson you will enjoy a full flow of the Qigong Healing Sounds for the Emotions. The class begins with the Releasing Emotional Blockages and Energetic Armoring meditation. Beginning with this meditation will promote the free circulation of Qi, making the Qi energy more accessible for healing. Then you will do a full flow of the whispered healing sounds for your emotions. We will practice the five healing sounds in the sequential order of the Water Cycle: Liver (Shh), Kidneys (Choo), Lungs (Sss), Spleen (Hou – fogging a mirror), and Heart (Hua). There is no emotional sound for the Triple Burner in this lesson.
