William Cooper, M.Th., Licensed Professional Counselor

William is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice. He spent 4 years in residence while earning a Master of Theology from Harding Theological Seminary in Memphis, TN in 1982. He integrates East with West in an understandable and doable step by step process of Awakening. He has lived in India for years spread out over 14 visits to study with awakened masters as well as to Bhutan, Nepal, Thailand, Brazil, etc. He was a Unity Board President, Oneness Trainer and is a Licensed Psychotherapist and spiritual group facilitator. He first started meditating in 1973. These podcasts are based on powerful ancient teachings tested by William's direct experience over the last 50 plus years. He has attempted to encapsulate and convey what he has experienced in a relatively simple clear way. He feels the best way to listen to these podcasts is in sequence starting at number 1 because each podcast is supported by those before it. However, each podcast also stands on its own so if you see a title that calls you, please do listen as you like. Enjoy!

Thank you for this series. I am listening from the beginning and finding your explanations very helpful. I've been meditating for a number of years and still feel like I'm not understating the process or my practice. Looking forward to learning more.

Thank you for laying down the groundwork for what is to come. The incredible detail that you go into is so helpful. I listened to your #2 PTSD talk yesterday, so now that I have the basics from #1 PTSD, I will re-listen to #2 with a better understanding. I look forward to making this (somewhat frightening) trip with you. Yesterday I ordered the Peter Levine book that you recommended, so I will be reading that and listening to you. I appreciate your insights, experience, and easy-to-listen-to style and delivery. Thank you. 🕯️❤️🕯️

Wow. This is a lot. My first time with you, and I am extremely interested in the pendulum method of mixing trauma & painful emotions with joyful & uplifting memories & experiences. Your explanation of how (with time) this practice will take the edge off of the pain that seems shackled to your mind is so encouraging & hopeful. I will now find « PTSD Part 3, » though I’ll be returning to Part 2 many times, in order to fully absorb what you’ve said here. Thank you, William. 🕯️❤️🕯️

I had to laugh—I only recently (last few years) realized I always front-end-loaded my tasks, chores and errands before I would allow myself to relax. It helped a lot that the first thing I do in the day is meditate, do yoga, dance and generally really enjoy myself—but after that, I would be “on duty” till everything I planned for the day was done before I would relax, sit down and read, take a walk, or call a friend. When I twigged to this, I started paying attention! I started to break the work-first-till-done habit. By throwing in a drive to the beach to look at the water, or stopping to read a book. It has really helped. Some days, I find I’ll just assess what might NEED to be done, do only that, and just relax for the rest of the day. It’s very beneficial and makes the relaxation more relaxing, too. There are more ego things to address yet, but they get easier! Thanks for your talks, William. Donna

Okay, Wiiiam, I get the drift—I was just a bit put off with the introductory remarks in the previous podcast. I agree meditation is a gradual process for bringing about greater clarity of perception. The comments about hypnosis were confusing to me, for sure! Donna

I practice (meditation, walking meditation, “praying”, yoga, dancing) 2-3 hours a day, but find the quality of the rest of the day carries a meditative aspect to it. I still have things to let go of, but most of them I see. Others crop up and surprise me, still, but at least then, I see them, too. These talks are an interesting review exercise, being so orderly and sequential. Building it throughout my years of practice felt much more haphazard and progress felt very stochastic. Thanks for making the effort to organize all you’ve learned. Donna
