This is Nitya with Nitya Living,
A holistic wellness yoga refuge.
I'm going to read two original poems today and also guide you in a deep relaxation.
May these be tools for you to inquire within yourself and where you are in your own life journey.
And the deep relaxation will allow you to connect to that true self,
Your inner voice,
And release long held stresses,
Anxiety,
Tension,
So that at the end of your session,
You feel refreshed and with a sweeter,
Dearer connection to yourself.
Just take a deep breath in and exhale slowly.
You should be lying down now or seated comfortably and feeling with each mindful slow breath that you are more relaxed,
More in this now moment.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Feel free to add sound to your exhalation if it feels good.
Effort,
All you long for,
All the goals,
Heavier by the year and never quite close enough for fingers aching to touch.
The road is a road.
You named it the moment you stepped out on it.
Silly,
Isn't it?
You arrived as soon as you decided to put your foot down.
Don't look back.
The ocean erased all your good work.
Lose count.
How many steps?
Measuring it all.
All for what end?
Arriving happens with each effort to step forward.
Ask that,
What did that mean to your deepest,
Darkest kept secret self?
Arriving happens with each effort to step forward.
Ask then,
What did that mean to your deepest,
Darkest kept secret self?
Deep breath in and exhale slowly.
Breathe now,
Focused on the right leg and hold your breath as you tense all the muscles in that leg,
Balling up your foot and exhale,
Let go.
Bring the focus now to the left leg.
Inhale,
Hold,
Tense,
Balling up the foot and exhale,
Release.
Breathe in as you pull the perineum up,
Clenching the buttocks,
Hold like a basket and slowly let go.
Bring the focus to the abdomen as you inhale,
Fill your belly like a big beautiful balloon.
Expand deep,
Deep,
Deep breath.
Open your mouth,
Exhale,
Let go.
Now a Durga swasam,
Three part breath.
Inhale into the abdomen,
Lift that breath to the chest,
All the way up to the collarbone,
Sipping in as much air as you can and exhale,
Let go.
Let go.
Let go.
Stretch your hands wide and breathe your hands into fists,
Tense into your arms tightly,
Tightly and exhale,
Let go.
Rest on the shoulders as you inhale,
Lifting shoulders towards the ears and exhaling,
Pushing shoulders down.
Then inhale as you wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself a quick hug and exhale,
Let go.
Let a sweet smile come over your face as you feel that depth of love for yourself.
Feel every cell of your body.
Loving yourself just the way you are is the beginning of loving the world just the way it is.
Let your head now rock side to side.
Inhaling the head,
Let your jaw wiggle side to side.
Stretch your mouth open wide and stick out your tongue.
Roll your eyes towards your third eye and make a loud hissing sound.
Then folding the mouth back up,
Inhale as you purse your lips and exhale,
Let your mouth relax.
Breathe now into your nose and wrinkle it tightly and release.
Breathe in as you squeeze your eyes more tightly closed.
Let go.
Breathe in raising eyebrows and forehead up.
Let go.
Finally,
Breathe into your whole face squeezing forehead,
Eyes,
Nose,
Mouth,
Tight,
Tight,
Tight,
Tight.
Exhale let go.
Feel now a cool wave of deep relaxation washing over your body like soft silk.
Become a witness to this self,
This beautiful precious self that you are.
Notice how relaxed and still and silent you are in this moment.
Taking a deep breath in and exhaling slowly.
The point is not to let go.
Slip into the dark water with flailing arms reaching,
Grabbing the first hand,
Pulling you into some imagined safety.
The point is to learn to walk into the dark water,
Sink toes into the cold silky muck at the bottom of unknown,
Dreaded,
Anticipated pain and realize no blood is rising,
No sting is radiating a lightning bolt to the brain.
The point is to walk into the water with the possibility that it is clear,
It is safe.
So close eyes and slip under.
With deep,
Deep breaths there held by the current resurfacing to float.
Feel yourself now floating in the safe waters of your own life.
Floating in and breathing out slowly.
Surrender into this now moment,
Buoyant,
Floating,
Refreshed.
Feel the legs and feet heavy and weightless.
Feel your arms expanding out with palms wide open to feel the water moving through your fingers.
Feel your back supported by the water itself.
Feel the water washing over your chest and abdomen like a baptism,
Refreshing you,
Cleansing you.
Feel this water wash over your face,
Enjoying the darkness behind your closed eyes,
The sweet smile on your face,
Curling your lips.
The breath cool and smooth on the inhale and warm and moist on the exhale.
Enjoy this time of floating and allowing yourself this nurturing time to just rest here.
Let all the thoughts and distractions float away like clouds in the sky.
Float in these safe waters.
Float and be free in yourself in this moment.
Allow yourself to float away into a space of deep peace.
Release and coming home to yourself.
Thank you,
Friend.
Be well.
