Hello friends,
This is Nitya with Nitya Living,
A yoga wellness refuge.
Thank you for joining me today.
We're going to find ourselves lying down or sitting comfortably.
Maybe you have soft pillows all around.
Let's take a deep breath in and exhale a nice om together.
Om Yes,
When we sound om,
You know what's in the middle of the word om.
Om sits in the middle of the word home.
And when we sound the om vibration,
We come home to ourselves.
Yeah.
And so as you close your eyes,
Or maybe gaze to the sky,
Or gaze at the ground,
You feel the weight of your body.
You're aware of your toes and your feet.
And you're aware of how your legs are either stretched out or folded up.
You're aware of your hips,
Your abdomen,
And how your belly rises and falls with the breath.
How as you breathe,
The rib cage expands and contracts.
How your heart shines brighter with each breath.
And your lungs are filled with all of this life force,
The prana that moves through you.
You're aware of all the muscles of your back so soft against the earth.
Just take two releasing breaths breathing in,
Ah,
Breathing in,
Ah.
Your arms feel like soft wings.
Your hands,
Your fingers are relaxed and still.
And you notice there's no tension in your shoulders or your neck.
You feel all the muscles of your face are soft.
Your jaw is soft.
You can move your jaw around,
Ah,
Move your tongue around,
Soften it all up.
Yeah.
And then you notice that your mind isn't all over the place.
Where's the mind?
Where's your mind?
Can you allow yourself to let go of all that your day has been and just be here now?
Not even think about what comes next?
Yeah.
And maybe this is the end of your day.
Notice how sweet your breath is as you breathe in and breathe out long,
Slow breaths.
Beautiful.
Beautiful.
And then we begin to sink into our meditation.
And I'm going to chant a song and maybe you feel like singing along.
The words are very simple.
It's an old folk song.
The river is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river is flowing down to the sea.
Mother carry me a child I will always be.
Mother carry me down to the sea.
The river is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river is flowing down to the sea.
Papa carry me a child I will always be.
Papa carry me down to the sea.
The river is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river is flowing down to the sea.
Om Shanti Om Shanti Om Shanti Om.
Om Shanti Om Shanti Om Shanti Om.
Om Shanti Om Shanti Om Shanti Om,
Shanti Om.
Shanti Om Shanti Om.
Shanti Om Shanti Om.
The river is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river is flowing down to the sea.
Take a deep breath in and exhale with a sound.
Deep breath in and exhale slowly.
Feel yourself in the river my friend.
Feel your toes in the water,
Cool and refreshing.
Feel your legs slowly going deeper into the water,
Cool and refreshing.
Feel the tips of your fingertips grazing the surface of the water,
Aware of the tension.
Before you break through and dip your hands into your arms,
Lowering down as your knees bend.
And then you lay back,
Allowing the water to cradle the back of your head,
Your back,
Your legs,
Your feet,
Your arms stretched out like wings,
Fanned fingers,
Face just enough above the surface to breathe and feel the sun on your face,
Hot.
And the water holds you.
And this is like a birthing back to the womb of mother.
And you are floating in the river,
Cool sweet water.
You hear the sound of songbirds singing and the warm breeze blows over you.
And your eyes close to the brightness of the sky and the sun.
Your breath is slow and tranquil,
Your body buoyant.
The river is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river is flowing down to the sea.
And it's here,
My friend,
You can drift off into a sweet dream.
All your worries and thoughts can disappear to the bottom of the ocean.
And you can feel free in this moment,
Breathing in and breathing out long slow breaths.
Om shanti,
Shanti,
Shanti om.
Thank you.
Be well.
