Welcome to practice.

My name is Neil Seligman.

Thank you for joining me today for this guided mindfulness meditation,

Auton mindfulness welcoming change.

Let's begin by finding a comfortable balanced posture and by bringing your awareness to the breath.

Take a few moments to let yourself arrive and allow your next inhale to invite you within.

Allow the gaze to soften and if appropriate for your circumstances allow the eyes to close.

As we drop in on the breath allow the physical sensations of the air passing through the nostrils and the airways to become primary in your awareness.

Welcome simple sensations noticing the temperature of the air,

The flow of the air,

The pressure of the air allow the breath to lead you into the physical body breathing in through the nose out through the nose lips together teeth slightly apart the breath inviting the body to find a comfortable position of alignment and balance following the breath all the way through the body to notice those points of contact between the body and the floor or the cushion or the chair allowing that sense of landing and arriving to be welcome in your experience breathing with presence and acknowledging the change of seasons perhaps having noticed the signs as you've moved around your neighborhood and just noticing the opportunity as this ancient rhythm of our world allows for reflection in the body and in the being on what is changing in you noticing and welcoming any resistance we might feel to change including it in our practice sitting down with the emotions that arise as we contemplate change knowing that through our practice we can open to those emotions and it's also okay to close to those emotions if they feel too intense today you are the leader of your practice and so working with what's there allowing the breath to invite you gently within as the trees begin to drop their leaves we notice the beauty all around us the colors shifting through the canopies the brown rustling leaves gathering in piles around the streets and hedgerows allowing us to reflect on the question what are you ready to let go of what are you ready to let go of at this time of year at this moment in your personal history and giving it space allowing the question to find its way through the body mind and being on the breath noticing if you're ready and if you are practicing letting go this art of letting go can be done with compassion and honoring and with optimism for the space it creates to welcome the new and as the leaves fall and the plants and the trees turn their focus inwards perhaps asking yourself the question what part of you is moving towards stillness at this time and how can you honor the seasonal shift in pace and temperature and activity honoring seasonal shifts and finding their reflections in our own experience allows us to flow mindfully with life itself to practice acceptance by approaching our lived experience with heartfulness and so breathing breathing with everything you've got welcoming it all and noticing the flow of life moving within you as within so without as we begin to emerge from this autumn mindfulness practice noticing the journey noticing the insights the questions the sensations images and feelings and perhaps as we begin to emerge setting an intention an intention for how you would like to practice with the seasonal energies of change today what is one way you would like to embrace change today noticing the feet on the floor the body breathing the rise and fall of the chest following the breath up and out and in your very own time allowing the eyes to open thank you for joining me in practice

Soft music or nature sounds, like rustling leaves would have added another level to this meditation. Thank you for this meditation as we move from Summer to Fall.
