Just begin by finding a comfortable position that best suits you.
Whether that's sitting upright in a chair with your feet firmly on the ground,
Or lying flat on a mat,
Or even in the comfort of your own bed.
Just make yourself comfortable and know that if you need to move at all,
That it's okay to do so.
Begin by taking some deep breaths in and out.
Letting go of what's already gone on for you today.
And not thinking or worrying about what's yet to come.
Just having this time for yourself right here,
Right now.
And imagine a beautiful summer's day,
The sun shining,
The birds are singing.
And you find yourself at the edge of a forest.
You step into the forest and you can feel the ground beneath you.
Some of it's soft and muddy from a recent rainfall.
You might be able to feel twigs and leaves beneath your feet.
And as you begin to walk through the trees,
You notice a shaft of light coming through.
The sun breaking through the branches.
You can see glimpses of a beautiful blue sky.
And you can see flowers in all colours.
As you begin to walk,
You notice more flowers and shrubs and trees.
Some tall,
Some shorter.
Beautiful colours.
You might be able to hear the sound of birds in the trees,
Or small animals rustling in the leaves.
And then in the distance,
You hear the sound of water.
And you're drawn to that sound walking along the path.
Just smelling the beautiful scents that arise in the forest.
The woody earth smell.
Perhaps the scent of wild garlic.
Beautiful flowers.
You can hear the bees buzzing and all other sounds of small insects.
And soon,
Right in front of you,
Is a beautiful waterfall.
Not the biggest waterfall that you've ever seen.
But you can see its cool crystal waters.
And as you get closer,
You feel the spray on your face.
It's cool and refreshing.
And as you stand beneath the waterfall,
You notice the sun shining through,
Making a beautiful rainbow of colours.
You might choose to reach out and touch the water from the waterfall.
And feel it spray gently on your hand.
And then you notice a path behind the waterfall.
And you choose to walk around,
Listening to the sound of the water as you go,
Feeling the spray on your face and your hand.
And passing behind the waterfall.
And stepping off onto another path.
And as you do that,
You notice a change in the temperature.
It's cooler.
The trees and the shrubs here are brown and red and gold and all shades in between.
It's autumn in this part of the forest.
You can feel the leaves crackle beneath your feet.
You can smell the woody smell.
And you might notice single leaves just falling and fluttering gently to the forest floor.
And you come to a wooden bridge.
And you might choose to go across,
Noticing how the stream is running below.
And you might stand on the bridge for a few moments,
Enjoying the sound of the water,
Feeling the cool autumn air on your face and your hands.
And appreciating all the colours around you.
All different shades and hues.
And then taking yourself over the bridge.
The air turns even colder.
A north wind blows.
And you pull your coat around you.
Dig your hands into your pockets to keep them warm.
And feel your toes tingling.
And then a single snowflake starts to fall.
And before long,
The forest is covered in a beautiful white carpet.
You can hear the silence.
And occasional birds wings.
As you look around this beautiful white winter wonderland.
You can see your breath.
And you choose to notice as it goes in and out.
And you make footprints in the snow as you continue your walk.
And then in front of you is an old building.
Quite small.
Old stone.
Perhaps an old church or an old chapel that was once in the forest.
And you go towards the door.
You enter into the old building.
And you notice a beautiful stained glass window.
A circular window.
With the most beautiful coloured glass you've ever seen.
And the light from the forest shines through.
And you feel completely at peace.
You notice a small bench.
And choose to sit for a moment or two.
Completely at peace with yourself.
Not thinking about what's gone on before.
Not worrying about what's to come.
Just being present in this beautiful stillness.
The distant smell of incense.
Feeling warm and safe.
And noticing this stunning stained glass window.
When you feel ready.
You exit the building.
Walking straight ahead through another door.
And as you come out back into the forest.
You notice that the air is slightly warmer.
The snow is beginning to thaw.
You can hear the sound of birds.
And as you look around.
You see small green shoots coming through the forest floor.
It's springtime in the forest.
The birds are busy.
Flying from tree to tree.
Building nests.
Getting ready.
For their young.
The trees are beginning to waken up.
Green shoots are beginning to show.
And pink and white blossom can be seen on some of the trees.
You just enjoy what you see and what you hear.
Feeling at peace.
And knowing that just like the seasons that change.
Our lives change too.
Nothing stays the same.
Everything turns around just as the seasons do.
And sometimes.
We don't need to do anything.
But sit and appreciate.
What we have at each time.
The beauty of what's there.
In the hot summer's day.
It changes into the beautiful colours of autumn.
Followed by the snows and winds.
And storms of winter.
Which also pass.
Bringing us into springtime.
And new beginnings.
Just begin to make some small movements with your fingers and toes.
Take some deep breaths.
And in your own time.
Just come back to the room that you're in.
And take a few moments.
Before continuing with your day.
