It's the end of the day and as you climb into bed and begin to snuggle down,
I want you to think of your favourite pet or animal.
This is maybe your own pet that you already have or one that you would like to have or maybe this is just a pet from your imagination.
And as you snuggle down in your warm,
Cosy bed,
This pet jumps up beside you.
And as you reach out your hand,
You can feel its soft fur as you gently stroke its head and its tummy.
Feel how soft it is.
Notice what it feels like on your hand.
And look carefully at its fur.
Look at its colours.
Is it all one colour?
Or a mixture of two or three or even more?
And feel the pet's breathing as it slowly begins to settle down.
Breathing in and out.
In and out.
Just like you.
You notice your breath is going in and out.
And your tummy goes up and down with each breath.
And maybe your pet licks the back of your hand and you can feel its rough tongue against your fingers.
And gently continue to stroke its head as you both settle down and begin to feel sleepy.
Maybe you both have a big yawn together.
And you notice how tired you really are.
Notice how calm you feel.
And how relaxed your pet is.
Snuggling up beside you.
You can feel its warmth against your skin.
You can feel its gentle breathing as you both breathe in and out together.
And as you begin to drift off to sleep you're already beginning to dream of the adventures that the two of you will have tomorrow.
Because tomorrow's another day.
Think of all the fun.
Maybe a long walk.
Perhaps to your favourite places.
But for now you're just enjoying feeling peaceful and calm.
And beginning to nod off to sleep.
You and your pet together.
Sleeping peacefully.
Dreaming about another day.
