Hello and welcome to Five Minutes in Nature with me,
Liz Scott,
Strolling off a very cool moorland as I make my way back home.
It's a very cloudy sky.
There are little patches of blue that I can see,
But mainly it's a wonderful array of whites,
Creams,
Greys,
And even sort of bluish clouds above me.
And the clouds are going to feature in my reflections today as I try and explain something.
That has really touched me recently.
And it all came about when I met up with a young woman who came across the Inside Out Understanding or the Three Principles.
And I hadn't realized that the conference that she had attended several years earlier had been so impactive for her.
And she came up to me and said,
Oh,
That conference you ran,
I'm always so grateful of it because it introduced me to the Three Principles.
And she was one of these people that just seemed to be shy.
Shining with light and love.
And I was so drawn to her.
And I said,
Well,
What is it about the three principles that you find is so helpful in your life?
How does it show up?
I was expecting her to say that maybe she was a coach or she was a trainer or she was sharing them in a particular way with people in her life.
And she paused and looked slightly perplexed and said,
Well,
That's quite impossible to say.
Specifically because it's just impacting all of my life.
It's like the whole of my life is different now that I understand the inside out understanding.
And later on as I was talking to her,
She explained something that really touched me.
And she said,
You know,
Rather than seeing life as a puzzle that needs to be solved,
What I see is that it's much more that life is just being revealed to me.
I'm receiving life.
I am witnessing it.
And the way she described it,
And this is where the clouds come in,
Is she said,
It's a little bit like watching a cloud.
When I watch a cloud,
I am curious to see where it is going to go,
What shape it might take,
How it might curl,
Or it might go fast,
Or it might go slow.
But what I know for sure is that there is something fascinating about watching the cloud,
But I have no influence over what that cloud does.
And that seems to be what she was saying about the way she experiences life unfolding.
It's like a cloud.
It just does its thing.
It unfolds.
She sees it and is caught up in the wonder of it as it unfolds.
And something else in a similar vein came from one of our listeners here on Insight Timer,
Sandra.
She said,
I trust that whatever happens is what is meant to happen.
I trust that whatever happens is what is meant to happen.
And for me,
That feels as though it's coming from a similar place.
It's that realization that rather than we are in the driving seat of life,
In full control of where we go in life,
What we visit,
It's much more apt and true to say that we are in the unfolding of life.
And we are not the ones making life happen or creating or controlling the direction in which it goes.
And I know that's quite a leap from what we're taught and shared,
But I would love you to reflect on that in the same way that I am gently reflecting on it myself.
What if rather than seeing life as something we need to grasp,
We need to fight,
We need to form,
We need to make happen in a particular way,
What if we saw life as just something that was endlessly creative and unfolding?
What if we are part of that?
What if there is nothing for us to do in managing the way life looks in the same way we don't need to manage how the clouds look?
What if you were able to hand on heart say,
I trust that whatever happens is what is meant to happen.
As always,
I am not telling you how to live your life.
I am asking you to be gently curious and reflective about this for yourself.
And I would love to know your reflections.
What comes up for you when you consider that you trust that whatever happens is what is meant to happen?
When you see yourself as part of the unfolding of life rather than the person driving life along.
Let me know your reflections and don't forget to join me again tomorrow for another five minutes in nature.
