Hello and welcome to a five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott.
I'm actually in my garage.
I was about to set out on a night time walk.
I got my waterproof jacket and trousers on and I was about to put my umbrella up and my wellington boots on and it's just heaving down with rain and I've been out twice today and on one occasion I got absolutely soaked.
So I thought do you know what I'm not actually going to go out for another walk.
I'm not going to get wet.
I'm going to talk to you from the garage and then I'm going to go back and sit down in front of the fire and get warm.
And today we continue the theme of living from love and not fear and I want to share with you how simple this is.
I want to share that living from love and not fear doesn't have to be anything that's grand.
No grand gestures are necessary.
You don't need to change the world.
For me living from love is about coming from a settled space,
An easeful space and expressing myself in the world and it shows up so simply and I'm just going to give you some examples today of how it's shown up.
It's been quite a slow day.
I've hunkered down.
It's been raining.
I haven't had any clients.
It's a day of writing my book.
So today has been very much me on my own but I did take my neighbour's dog for a walk.
It was absolutely heaving down with rain when I did that and that for me is an act of love,
Living from love.
I wanted to help out my neighbour.
I wanted to walk the dog and even though the rain came down and I was battling the wind and my umbrella was blowing away,
It blew inside out at one point,
I just was with the weather as it was.
There was no point battling it.
I was with the weather.
Did I enjoy the weather?
Well of course I preferred that it was sunny but I didn't not enjoy it.
I just kind of enjoyed being out with the dog in nature,
Breathing in oxygen and it was also raining.
I was doing that walk from love,
An easeful space.
I was helping out my neighbour.
I was enjoying being with the dog.
So that's just a really simple example of living from love.
Another example,
Last night I made a soup.
We had it this evening.
A few weeks ago I tried a particular soup and I really enjoyed it.
So I tried to work out the recipe and I bought all the ingredients and last night I settled down to make this soup and we ate it this evening and it was really good.
But that whole act,
Buying the ingredients,
Imagining eating the soup,
Imagining giving it to my husband,
Knowing it was nourishing and wholesome,
That whole act of creating the soup was an act of love.
That's what it is to act from love.
Sitting today writing my book,
It was a perfect day for writing because it was such a rubbish day outside and I sat writing my book.
First of all I lit a candle,
Got myself some focus,
Looked at the flame and I started writing and that act of writing,
Of remembering the pilgrimage,
Of feeling the gratitude,
Of processing once again through the writing the lessons I learned from the walk,
All of that is an act of love.
It's living from love.
This morning when I got up to go out for a walk and I noticed that the bird feeders were empty,
I filled them up.
I delighted in seeing a flock of sparrows come and feed from the garden.
This was me living from love,
Watching the birds,
Being present to nature,
Albeit I was inside at the time and they were outside but just this sense I was connected and with nature,
That was me living from a place of love.
So today is just a reminder that living from love doesn't need to be anything grand.
In fact it can be just small,
Small little nuggets and gems during the day of you living easefully,
Sharing,
Being with people,
Doing things,
Not battling against or railing against or feeling anxious about but just being with what is and turning up in a simple way and living from love.
So my reflection today is that living from love can be really simple and I hope you join me again tomorrow with five minutes in nature as we once again look at what it means to live from love and not fear.
