Hello and welcome to Five Minutes in Nature with me,
Liz Scott,
Up on Dartmoor in an evening.
It's cool,
There's a little bit of a breeze blowing.
And there's been some rain today not much but a little dampening of rain this morning and it seemed as though my husband and I were saying but as we looked across the yellowing grass after the rain we could swear that we could see little patches of green starting to emerge as if they had just been waiting for this little bit of rain so they could soak it up and go green maybe we imagined that I mean the grass is pretty yellow still the sun eventually came out we didn't have half as much as rain as we needed but things seem to have just turned a little bit cooler and that's refreshing as i walked up here today i looked up at what i would call a mackerel sky and the clouds were just gilded silver with the setting sun and i do love the clouds when they show up and are illuminated in the sky as i saw this evening.
And today I was talking to a friend.
We haven't touched base for a little while and she and I,
We were on a podcast together.
And I got hold of her and it just so happened that she was free for a conversation right there and then.
Got on a phone call and we just spent 20 minutes catching up with each other's lives.
And as we did,
It soon became apparent that there were similarities with both of us.
We were both feeling like we were going through a transition,
That things were changing.
We were both with different stories,
But both had things going on in our personal life.
Myself with caring for my mum,
And she had things going on with her family as well.
We were both in a sense of transition in our business,
But not quite knowing where it was going.
And as she summed it up so well,
She said,
You know,
I feel as though I am in a place of limbo.
And I interpreted that to mean almost like a place of neutral,
Of being ready to step forward,
But not quite knowing which direction to step forward in.
And it so resonated with me because I feel that too.
Not necessarily that I feel as though I'm in neutral,
But I feel as though I am ready to start taking steps to step forward,
But I'm not sure what those steps are.
And the conversation continued further.
And one of the things I got from the conversation with her was all about trust.
It was about trusting and having faith in the energy behind life,
In the wisdom,
Intuitive energy that I am guided by in my life and you are guided by in your life.
And that's what I've been left with today,
A reflection on that.
And the other thing she said,
Which I found quite helpful,
Was that growth does not necessarily mean growing upwards and taller.
Growth does not mean,
If you're looking at plants,
Bearing fruit and blossoms.
Sometimes growth is about shedding leaves,
Is about dropping fruit,
Is about closing down.
That is a legitimate form of growth too.
It's a time of resourcing.
It's a time of resourcing and renourishing yourself.
Plants do it.
Nature does it.
And it's absolutely fair to say we as humans need that too.
Certainly I do.
So today's reflection is this,
Is still feeling as though I'm on a cusp of something,
But also feeling as though I'm in a bit of a limbo.
Not stuck as such,
But just feeling like I don't quite know what my next step is.
But added to that with that conversation today,
It's a reminder to trust.
Trust and feel that intuition and allow it to guide me through life.
That's what I'm seeing today,
Turning up and trusting and being guided through life.
I'm really curious in your reflections,
Your reflections on being in a place of limbo,
Of not quite knowing which direction,
Of being able to celebrate growth,
Albeit that might not be outward growth,
It might be inward growth,
It might be spiritual growth.
And this idea of trusting,
Of listening,
Of being aware of the guiding force of wisdom in our lives.
Let me know your reflections.
And of course,
Don't forget to join me again tomorrow for another five minutes in nature.
