Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott.
Taking a wander about my village in the evening.
I'm just going over a little gravel path onto the grass and the grass here is just yellow.
It's like straw and I'm just looking at it because it is speckled a bit with bits of green and the green seem to be the green leaves of clover.
So the clover and the plantain leaves.
And the yarrow leaves all seem to retain their green but the grass itself is completely dry.
And today's reflection is all about life.
It's about living life to the full.
I recently read a quote from one of the comments from Sandra,
And she quoted something from Winnie the Pooh,
Which I loved.
And I'm going to use that as the basis of today's reflection.
And the quote from Winnie the Pooh went something like this.
Enjoyed.
Not a problem to be solved.
Life is a journey to be enjoyed.
Not a problem to be solved.
And there was something about reading it and also where I was in my reflections that day that landed really deeply when I read that.
You see my uncle died a few weeks ago and his funeral was just a few days ago and one of the things when I was listening to the eulogy of my uncle was I just realised that he loved his life.
He wasn't flashy with it.
He loved his life.
He loved traveling.
They had a caravan.
They loved traveling.
He loved the river.
He lived near the river,
Which was the village he was born in,
Was the home he had all his adult life.
He lived there all his life.
There was something about his non-flashy,
Un-flashy way of really enjoying life.
That landed for me,
And that quote as well just seemed to resonate deeply,
Which is,
Life is a journey to be enjoyed,
Not a problem to be solved.
And it got me reflecting on how I sometimes fall down the potholes of life.
You know,
Those potholes where I start to question what I'm doing,
And am I doing life in the right way,
And should I be doing it differently,
And am I being a success at what I do?
And what I really like from what I reflected on from this quote and also from my dear,
Dear uncle,
Is that there's something about living with freedom.
There's something about living without the stories that hold you back.
I write a little paragraph every day,
And I have done every day for the last three and a half years.
And one of the things I love about doing this is I can see what I was physically doing the year before and I can also sometimes I have little insights that I jot down.
One of the insights that I had,
Which I jotted down last year and then read just the other day,
Was this recognition of what freedom would open up if I were able to live life without stories.
It's all the same thing.
It's living life without the things that become hard work and hold you back.
So that's my reflection today.
It's a combination of what would it be like to live life without stories?
What would it be like to live life fully?
And what about if the quote about enjoying life as a journey rather than a.
.
.
Problem to be solved.
What if that was all true?
I don't have any answers and I'm not asking you to change anything.
But I am asking you to be curious and to reflect.
And I would love to know what your life would look like if you were to take on board those aspects of living life to the full.
Let me know your reflections.
And of course,
Don't forget to join me again tomorrow for another five minutes in nature.
