There’s an old saying: Don’t bite off more than you can chew. In today’s 5 Minutes in Nature, Liz reflects on how challenges that first appear insurmountable often become manageable when broken down into smaller parts. When intuition nudges you toward something new, instead of labelling it an “impossible task,” allow yourself the space to see the small steps that will gently guide you toward the destination.

Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott up on Dartmoor the moorland just above my home and it's a bit of a damper cooler morning certainly feels like a shift in the season and the clouds are low but it's lovely just to get out and oh I just love walking I love walking before breakfast I feel so invigorated when I get home and I love it that the mornings are getting darker I mean it's mixed feelings of course but the sun when it rises is much lower in the sky soon I'll be watching the sun rise on my walk it's a beautiful part time of the day and there's something quite magical about seeing the sunrise and being present to the sun rising but that's all to come today is a reflection on just doing things a bit at a time a bit at a time and as you know as I reflected on yesterday I'm moving around my office in the house and decorating and the house is really upside down there's lots of things on the floor there's bits of furniture pulled out so we can get to the walls to decorate them everything is it feels it's the mess before the calm before everything gets restored back to order and yesterday we had a task which was to move my bookshelves and a cabinet it's all one unit from one room to the other and they're really really heavy they're very heavy pieces of furniture and my sister was helping me we were sorting through books and she looked at them and and was like how on earth are you going to move these how on earth are you going to do it well we kind of knew that we'd done it before so we couldn't remember how but we knew that it must be possible to do it again um so my husband and I started to work out you know that actually it wasn't one huge big unit there were four elements that each could separately be unfixed and then reassembled and so what looked to me with my eye when I looked at it as a this is a two-hour job we're going to move this bookcase from one room to another became a job for the whole day but what we did and and this is one of the comments my sister made is she was sort of observing us and helping us move the furniture and just give it a wipe down she said it's interesting isn't it that something that looks really insurmountable actually when you just start it and break it down into bits you can see that it's achievable and I just love that because it's so true isn't it we often look at something and just think there's no way no way I can do this but actually when we break it down into bits we were able to to do one bit at a time and I know when I walk my pilgrimage it was seven weeks of walking earlier in the year I mean that as a project just seemed completely mad and insurmountable seven weeks out away seven weeks walking how do I plan how do I where do I live what do I do how do I eat how do I have backup the whole project in the outset just seemed unachievable like a wild dream but actually I mean it drew me and and I realized that I could do this bit I could I could get some maps I could work out the route I could read a book I could meet somebody I could ask my husband for help we could ask someone to look after our elderly dog all of these things that seemed impossible because I was drawn and it felt an absolute pull to embark on the pilgrimage what seemed like a huge thing to arrange and then physically do was actually no more than a series of smaller steps that just joined together and I suppose what I am really wanting you to reflect on is if there is something in your heart like not not in your busy mind like a goal that you want to be successful like something your ego wants but if there's something in your heart something that just keeps drawing you and nudging you and reminding you that it's it's time for you to put your energy in that direction if you feel that there's something in your heart that's drawing you and your mind and kicks in and your thinking kicks in and goes oh it's just too big I can't do that if your heart is drawing you just take the next step and eventually you will find a way because I'm beginning to see more and more that the intuitive deeper intelligence nudging us is the voice to listen to and as we trust the way opens up and we're able just to take one step at a time

Thanks Liz. 🙏🏼 This is true. And sometimes taking a break after each step. I am in Ireland now and love the place. Currently in Belfast and so many beautiful old buildings. The end result of the disruption in your office will be satisfying. 🌿☘️🌿
