In today’s '5 Minutes In Nature', Liz embarks on the twenty-eighth day of her pilgrimage, tracing the Michael and Mary energy lines across England. In Wiltshire, she discovers that nature, spirituality, and the natural world form a strong, grounding base for being human.

Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott and this is the 28th day of my pilgrimage across England as I follow the energy currents of the Michael and Mary line and I'm just a mile outside of Avebury which is where I'll be spending the whole day tomorrow.

Avebury is a rich site with prehistoric monuments and standing stones and stone circles and barrows and it's it's just extraordinarily special so I'm really wanting just to spend a bit of time there tomorrow not just carry walking on through and today has been extraordinarily special too and I guess my reflection today as I've been walking is this realization that you don't have to be super sensitive to the energies in order to get something out of walking a pilgrimage like this.

You know it seems in a way that walking the Mary and Michael energy currents you would probably imagine that at some level I have some sensitivity to these currents and I don't think I do not in the same way that I know some people do because some people are very sensitive to energy currents and that sort of sixth sense which I do not have but what I've learned today and what I'm learning on this pilgrimage is that at some level I am connected to something else and this pilgrimage I think is helping me to see that and to open up to that myself.

So today I started at Oliver's Castle that's where I finished off last night but I wanted to go back there it was a node point I wanted to experience it at the start of the day and to feel that exhilaration of standing what felt like on top of the world and from there I walked and went to another hill fort this one was called Oldbury Hill Fort and I then followed the route the track that led me on to Windmill Hill.

Now Windmill Hill is an old hill fort as well this whole landscape is dotted with them and when I say an old hill fort I'm talking about thousands of years old I think Windmill Hill has been dated to five and a half thousand years old so these are really ancient places in the landscape and Windmill Hill had a node point and I stood at the node point and span around slowly looking at a 360 degree landscape I could see everything and I could see a little way away Silbury Hill which is I'll be visiting that tomorrow it's like an upturned pudding bowl on the landscape I know the Mary energy goes through that and then I followed the route down to a place called Winterbourne Moncton to the church a very unusual looking church that again is on the Mary current and I've just come away from that now having spent a little while there.

Today I feel settled today I feel as though there is an aliveness in the landscape that is connecting with an aliveness within me I feel so fulfilled and settled now yesterday of course the news of my my dog and if you remember I was a bit unsettled thinking I might need to go home as it is he seems to settle down and everything seems absolutely fine again and today without my mind jumping into the space of what-ifs I was just able to be with what is and what is for me at the moment is just walking rhythmically through this landscape and being open to them the natural world and being open to the energy currents of a world that I cannot see or specifically feel but at some level there's a sense of knowing that they are connecting and communicating with me this feels part of the human experience that is really vital our connection with the land with our spiritual nature with with the natural world and I think today as I make my way towards Avebury on the last mile of my journey there's a recognition that this is it's not a nice add-on it's not a nice add-on just to do spirituality it's fundamental to our experience as human beings so this for me is a real good reminder that what I am engaging with on this pilgrimage is actually something that is absolutely fundamental to me being a healthy human being
