Hello and welcome.
This meditation is about finding stillness in the midst of chaos.
It is about dropping down into the body and listening to its wisdom.
So whatever is happening in your life,
Whatever is happening in your community,
Society,
The world,
You can drop down into the body and find a place of total and utter stillness from which you can connect to peace,
To joy,
To a deep,
Deep love and reverence for this existence.
So let's begin by finding a comfortable position.
You can be seated cross-legged on the ground,
You can be lying down,
You can be seated in a chair with your feet flat on the ground.
Whatever position you're in,
I only ask that you are able to keep a nice straight spine.
So if you're lying down,
Maybe in a thin pillow or no pillow,
And if you're sitting,
Just take a moment to rock forward and back,
Side to side,
Find that optimal center.
Tuck the chin in slightly,
Crown of head reaching up toward the sky.
Just begin to breathe deep down into the body,
Breathing all the way to the base of the belly,
The base of the spine.
Breathing all the way down beyond the belly,
Beyond the legs,
Into the earth,
Imagining your breath can reach so deep that it penetrates the ground.
Inhaling and exhaling and feeling rooted,
Rooted to Mother Earth.
Feeling this sense of safety,
Security,
Connection,
Your oneness with the world.
Breathe a little bit deeper,
Expanding the body,
Expanding the belly,
Expanding everything with each inhale,
And exhale,
Really release,
Release any neurosis,
Any fear,
Any worry.
We're going to do a short body scan now to relax.
So anything that you're holding in the body,
It's time to let go.
Bringing your attention to the toes,
Just notice,
Soften,
Release any tension in the bottoms of the feet,
The tops of the feet,
The ankles,
Calves,
Shins.
Bring your attention to the knees,
The backs of the knees,
The fronts of the knee.
Moving up to the thighs,
Focusing here,
Just noticing if you're holding anything in the legs,
Consciously let it go.
Bring your attention to the groin,
The hip,
So much is held in this area.
Simply breathe here,
Soften,
Release anything you're holding.
Any memories,
Any tensions,
Any expectations,
Dissolve with the breath.
Allow the belly and lower back to soften even more.
Feel the muscles in the back just melting down.
Any tension holding there,
Just breathe into it.
Allow it to soften just a little.
Soften and become pliable,
Bendable,
Flexible.
Bring your attention to the chest,
The lungs.
Feel the way your magnanimous breath fills the lungs with every inhale.
Setting gratitude to the lungs,
Noticing if you're holding anything in the chest,
And just releasing,
Letting go.
Bringing your attention to the shoulders,
The shoulders where we carry so much weight,
The weight of others' worries,
The weight of others' expectations.
Just allow this weight to lift,
Release,
Float away.
Bringing your attention to the arms,
Allow them to soften,
Allow them to be heavy,
And take a moment to focus on the wrists.
Focus if they feel overworked,
Overburdened,
And send them love.
Release and relax anything you're holding in the hands,
Trying to hold onto.
Just release,
Let go to receive,
Let go to receive.
Open through the neck,
The jaw.
Release any tension you're holding in the face,
The cheeks,
The eyes,
The forehead,
The top of the head,
The back of the head.
Now take this opportunity to check in with your body.
Be fully present in your body and notice what that feels like.
Allow the stillness of this moment to nourish you,
To replenish you like a deep REM sleep.
Allow the body to work its magic.
Finding this place of neutrality,
Finding this place of stillness.
Give yourself a moment to just let go,
Let go of everything and settle in this space.
Now take a moment to focus on the fingers.
Just notice any sensation.
Focus on the toes.
Take a breath and feel that breath moving in your body.
Release it softly.
Take another breath and send yourself gratitude for taking a moment to get still,
To listen to the wisdom of stillness.
Take a final deep,
Deep breath,
Inhaling and charging the body with all that you desire,
All that you need to cultivate this stillness in your day-to-day life when you need it,
To trust that it's here for you.
When you exhale,
Exhale fully,
Completely and when you're ready,
No rush at all,
I invite you to blink your eyes open.
Take in your surroundings.
Find an object in front of you.
Focus on that object.
Name that object.
Look around the room.
Feel at this opportunity to live,
To embody,
To engage.
I wish you all good things.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
