In this practice, we are using the rhythm of the "straw breath" to settle our nervous systems, clearing the way to breathe directly into and out of our hearts. We are expanding our awareness in ripples, starting with the people right next to us, moving through our communities, and finally reaching out to every being across all of time. We recognize the miraculous truth that wishing for the happiness, safety, and joy of others is the most direct way to cultivate those same resources within ourselves. By the time we open our eyes to share a warm gaze with those around us, we have become a vessel for universal compassion.
