This is an acceptance and releasing expectations meditation that you can do to improve your relationship with any loved or close friend. You can also do this practice informally– before interacting with a loved one, go through this mental exercise on-the-go: “I have no expectation of you. So close your eyes just for a second and imagine a person who you care about.

Imagine a person who you like.

Bring this person into your heart and say for this person,

I love and accept you just as you are.

Say for this person,

I don't want anything from you and I want everything for you.

I want you to follow your rhythms,

Not mine.

I connect to you just as you are.

I'm setting the intention.

May my words contribute to your happiness.

May my actions contribute to your happiness.

And may my thoughts,

My thoughts like me releasing you of expectations,

May they contribute to your happiness.
