Sleep is the foundation for good health. Any effort you make to improve your well-being, performance, fitness, or mental health will be futile if your quality and duration of sleep are not optimal. Any effort you make to recover from an illness or heal disorder and disease in the body will be stunted if you do not account for your sleep. Your mood, productivity, cognitive performance, memory, willpower, vitality, learning ability, and immunity, are all directly linked to the quality and quantity of your sleep. This course is intelligently designed to give you the most crucial nuggets of wisdom about sleep within a relatively short period of time. At the end of just 6 days, you will be left with a holistic understanding of the mechanisms regulating sleep from both an Ayurvedic and a modern scientific perspective.

Introduction To Sleep & Why It Is Crucial To Our Wellbeing
In this session, you will receive a brief background about sleep, and its prime importance in relation to our health and wellbeing. You will gain an understanding of how an Ayurvedic lifestyle can help improve your sleep. Additionally, I will also provide you with a roadmap of all that we will cover in these 6 days together.

Doshas (Mind/Body Constitutions) & Sleep
In this session, we explore the mechanism of sleep through the lens of our mind/body constitutions or ‘Doshas'. The concept of Doshas is central to the Ayurvedic understanding of the body and it is impossible to make sense of ideas around balance, imbalance, disease, and health without clarity on the concept of the doshas.

Dinacharya Part 1: Morning Routine For Good Sleep
In this session we explore how to cultivate the right Dinacharya (daily routine) in the morning to bring about good sleep. It is necessary to understand that consistency is crucial to the idea of Dinacharya. Our body loves regularity and performs best when it can rely on signals from its body clock. None of these interventions will work if you don’t do them every day. But, more than that, when our internal body clock is aligned and operating with the same timeframe every day, a magical compounding of our health begins to happen.

In this session, we explore sleeping aids, supplements, and herbs that are associated with sleep. The goal is to become equipped with a good understanding of their benefits, harms, and the optimal way to consume each of them.
Lektion 6
Common Sleeping Disorders And Age-Related Challenges
In this session, we explore common sleep-related issues and disruptions and how to use Ayurvedic interventions to minimise the damage caused by these circumstances. We will explore a few age-related sleep challenges from the perspective of Ayurveda that will open up the possibility for a more holistic approach to their treatment.
