Welcome to this meditation.
Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Take a slow deep breath in and exhale gently.
Feel the weight of your shoulders release,
Your mind settling into a quiet space.
Imagine a garden,
Vibrant and abundant.
Some trees grow tall and strong,
Their roots deep and steady,
While others stretch quickly,
Reaching for attention,
Yet their roots are shallow,
Struggling to hold them firm.
Notice how the grounded trees sway gracefully in the wind,
While the tall,
Exposed ones sometimes wobble or cast shadows that obscure their neighbours.
Now bring your awareness to the river flowing nearby.
Its waters move steadily,
Carrying clarity and truth.
Watch how it nourishes everything along its path,
Without rushing or forcing its way.
Reflect on how easily pride and self-interest can cloud your own waters,
Creating ripples that disturb the calm.
As you breathe,
Consider the value of listening before speaking.
Let humility guide your words and patience temper your judgements.
Observe how some voices insist on being louder than all others,
Yet offer little nourishment,
While quieter,
Thoughtful voices shape the world gently but profoundly.
Feel the sunlight on your face,
Steady and impartial.
It does not seek praise or attention,
It simply shines.
Let this be your guide.
In moments of temptation to boast or dominate,
Return to the garden,
The river and the sunlight.
Notice the balance,
The patience,
The quiet power.
Take one final deep breath,
Grounding yourself in awareness and clarity.
Carry this calm,
Steady presence with you,
Letting it influence how you move,
Speak and grow.
