Take a slow breath in.

Let it stretch your ribs,

Settle your shoulders and bring you here.

You are not behind.

You are not too much or not enough.

You are a person in a body with a mind that has made it through every day up to now.

That counts for something.

There's no need to brace yourself for the day like it's a test.

Let that go.

Instead,

Move from a steadier place,

The part of you that knows you've handled more than this before and still found a way through.

Today might be full.

It might be unpredictable.

That's fine.

You'll respond as needed.

You'll make decisions,

Solve what needs solving,

And leave some things unfinished.

That is life.

The important thing is to keep some space for yourself in the middle of it all.

A quiet thread running through the noise,

Reminding you to breathe,

To notice,

To come back to your center when the pace picks up.

You're allowed to say no without explanation.

You're allowed to pause without guilt.

You're allowed to do the work without rushing through it and to do it well without exhausting yourself.

You don't have to be positive all the time.

But you can be present.

You can be honest.

You can show up with enough care that what you touch today is better for it.

Not because you are trying to prove something,

But because that's the kind of person you are,

When you're not pulled in too many directions.

So take another breath.

Let it land.

Let the noise wait.

You don't need to be perfect.

You just need to be here.

Start from there and carry on.
