Chelsea Kim Long (she/her) is a writer, meditation teacher, and lay theologian whose journey of deconstruction was catalyzed by her experience of motherhood. As a post-evangelical Christian, Chelsea draws from the wisdom of the Bible, the contemplative Christian tradition, and the teachings of Jesus, alongside her decade-long yoga practice. Since completing a 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2017, she has been teaching meditation, creating spaces for deep connection and spiritual growth. Chelsea has also co-led her neighborhood faith community since 2019, nurturing conversations about belonging, justice, and the divine. Based in San Diego with her husband and three kids, Chelsea is at work on her first book, reclaiming a biblical vision for the future of Christian womanhood.

Really helpful, thank you! I can see how denying these feelings and thoughts and just pushing on regardless has not served me in the long run. I will try and notice the feelings and the thoughts and ask what they are telling me to protect myself more in the future

Thanks so much for sharing this and having the courage to challenge the status quo messages of modern day Christianity! It's taken me a very long time to free myself from the "sinful heart" messages I was brainwashed every Sunday at church and in other regular religious gatherings during the early part of my life. The idea that we're basically sinful and must therefore ignore our inner voice is so incredibly damaging-and dangerous too because it essentially sets up the expectation that we will sin because that's our true nature. How much better to believe we're basically good so there's no excuse to be any other way. Plus, aren't we supposed to be created in God's image and isn't God good so therefore we must be good too!

Thank you for these 💗 I recently lost a wonderful dog, who suffered more in his last few months because of an incompetent and callous-feeling vet’s office. They just tried to charge me $200 for a phone call from a month ago, and that brought up a LOT of emotions, so your “welcoming” teachings and meditations on anger, grief, and hatred have been incredibly helpful in processing those feelings. I want to be able to move forward from this in a more healed and intentional way (which is going to take some time), and I know the ideas and practices you’ve laid out will help. I’m also a big fan of IFS, so I was very happy to hear it mentioned in your teachings and I could definitely feel it in play in the practices 💗

This (and the talk) was lovely and was exactly what I was hoping to find. When I search for meditations on anger so many of them have titles like “dissolving anger,” “releasing anger,” “transforming anger,” etc, and I really wanted to find a practice that focused on welcoming/allowing/accepting that part of myself and my experience. Thank you!

This was perfect for my luteal phase. This phase is particularly challenging for me and this meditation brought me a more positive perspective so that I can have more compassion towards myself
