This is the Insight Meditation included in the Mindfulness-Based Program: Calm and Joy. This practice helps you to awaken and connect with your true nature. It is about observing everything that can be perceived (thoughts, emotions, sensations) without setting a particular priority. In a given moment, it may be that the song of a bird will catch my attention and I will enjoy listening carefully, even while other stimuli are also present in the background, such as the pressure of my buttocks on the cushion, my breathing or even my blood flow. At each moment, any stimulus can catch your attention, and once brought into focus, it will then be overshadowed by other impressions, and so on.
