Self-Awareness & Why It Matters
Having self-awareness means that you have knowledge of yourself. You understand your habits, likes, dislikes, the way you view the world, and your needs. You know what you want in life and understand your emotional responses. Socrates’ famous quote “know thyself” is a directive for us to develop self-awareness.
Having self-awareness doesn’t necessarily solve your challenges in life, but it does give you an accurate starting point and allows you to develop a game plan for solutions.
Self-awareness takes time to develop, but the benefits are well worth the effort.

Acknowledging Your Inner Critic
Have you ever been about to do something - and then suddenly, that voice inside your head starts chattering away?
That negative voice inside your head that judges, criticizes, or demeans you is your inner critic. Your inner critic plays a critical role in how you see yourself and your levels of self-esteem.
When you don’t know how to acknowledge and release what your inner critic is prattling on about, you can feel ashamed, worthless, or low in self-esteem.
When you let your inner critic control too many of your actions, it holds you back from things like aligning with the truth of you, personal growth, opportunity, connection, and of course - your true unique gifts, talents, and potential.

Appreciating What You Have
Sometimes, when we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, we can become out of touch with the things that really matter. But you have plenty of things to be appreciative of, regardless of the circumstances in which you may find yourself.
You can be appreciative for your physical blessings like where you live, the climate you live in, and your home. You might be thankful about certain people being in your life. This may include your children, your grand mother, or your best friend.
The most important function of appreciation is that it allows you to open your heart, mind, and soul to goodness, gratitude, and light.

Affirming the Truth of You
Starting your day off with some gratitude affirmations is a great way to remind yourself of all the wonderful things you have in your life. When you repeat aloud these affirmations of gratitude, you energize yourself and gain the courage to face the day and all the frictions and adventures it may bring.
Affirming your gratefulness helps you recognize that you can have what you most want and need to reap the fulfilling life you deserve. Joy, money, love, and happiness are yours. You deserve it!

Access Your Authentic Self
Are you living a life that is more in tune with your "authentic" self (who you were created to be) or your "fictional" self (who the world has told you to be)?
You probably weren't even aware that these versions of your "self" existed!
There is another level of existence that is the real, true, genuine substance of who you are. It is what we are going to refer to as the authentic self.
The authentic self is the you that can be found at your absolute core. It is the part of you not defined by your job, function, or role. It is the composite of all your skills, talents, and wisdom. It is all the things that are uniquely yours and need expression, rather than what you believe you are supposed to be and do.

Elevate Your Belief in Yourself
Believing in yourself may be your most valuable resource. It has a powerful impact on your behavior and experiences. It is a mindset that gives you motivation, energy, and courage… it also helps you to reach your goals.
When you are feeling unsure, remind yourself that confidence is a skill you can develop. You might need to fake it sometimes, but gradually you will accept and trust yourself more.

Exploring Your Purpose
Do you sometimes wonder why you are here? After all, you were created with a unique set of gifts, passions, and talents that no one else in the world can duplicate!!
Exploring your essence and your purpose in life lets you use your unique array of feelings and abilities to bring you greater self-fulfillment.
When you are doing what you feel like you were born to do, you can create a life you thoroughly enjoy. Your intentions will have more meaning to you and challenges will be naturally easier to overcome as you joyfully move toward achieving those goals.

Leading With Your True Self
Your self-image is the way you view yourself. You might view yourself as a parent, construction worker, friend, blonde, sports fan, intelligent, impatient, and middle-aged. But you are so much more than your career, gender, and age. You are more than your parents’ or society's opinion.
You are a unique person with nuances that are unique to you!
When who you are aligns with what you do, you are living authentically. However, many of us view ourselves as one way and live another. Authentic people act honestly and congruently.

Accomplish a Sense of Ease & Meaning
Many people, when asked if their life has purpose and meaning may just nod or give a non-committal response. Some people are leading lives of quiet desperation. In this world, there are many who feel dissatisfied with life and believe that their life lacks purpose and meaning… If you can relate to this on any level, there is good news: it doesn’t have to be a permanent condition!!
Truth is, there is no set recipe for a meaningful life. Your values and perception of the world are unique. The most meaningful and purposeful life you can lead is specific to you. Have the courage to create a life that potentially lies outside the norm.
Lição 10
Inner Changes Will Transform Your Life
When you follow the same recipe, you get the same results. Likewise, changing your behavior is the only way to change your life. However, changing behavior directly can be extremely challenging.
Look at how hard it is to lose weight or to stop smoking, yet both have simple solutions: eat healthily and stop putting cigarettes in your mouth.
While behavior is hard to change with sheer willpower, it can be changed quickly with a change in perspective.
