During your coffee break, why not listen to this guided meditation which uses your cup of coffee as a tool to reenergise and focus the mind and body. You will get an instant mind reset, preparing you to return to your daily activities with a clear headspace. This is a perfect accompaniment for your next coffee break. If you are not a coffee drinker, don't worry, you can use any beverage to follow along in this short and sweet mindfulness exercise.

Hello,

Hold your cup of coffee with both hands.

If it is too hot,

Put your cup on the table and put your hands close to the cup so you can feel the warmth.

Sit up or stand up straight,

Whichever is available to you.

Have a look inside the cup.

See how the complexion of the coffee is made up of many colours and shades.

See the silhouettes of steam arising beautifully.

The effortless,

Calm movement of the coffee.

The coffee beans,

Which may have been grown thousands of miles away,

Are now in your hands in a delicious and balanced blend.

If you would like,

You can close your eyes.

Take a slow,

Intentional breath.

Take one more.

Try to go slower if you can.

As you do that,

Let go of any thoughts or feelings which are stuck.

Gently release them without comment.

Feel the warmth of the cup.

Focus on the ball of energy between your hands.

Allow that energy to flow into your hands,

Up your arms,

To your shoulders and slowly through your body.

Smell the aromas arising from the coffee.

Become aware of the distinct scents and allow them to flow into your nose.

As you exhale,

Feel the relaxation through your body.

Bring the coffee close to your mouth to take a sip.

As you bring it closer,

The aromas intensify.

Allow them to re-energise your mind.

Take a sip and enjoy the taste.

Swirl it in your mouth and appreciate the complexity of the flavours.

Imagine it's your first time drinking coffee,

And be amazed how great it tastes.

The bitterness,

The hotness,

The smoothness all blended perfectly into one.

Have another sip,

Feel the energy in your body and mind.

Whether you need focus,

Willpower,

Confidence or productivity,

It is all there for you.

If you are able to,

Put the cup down,

Cover your eyes with your hands and feel the warmth radiating from your hands on your face.

As you lay your hands back down,

Open your eyes and feel that this brief coffee break has given you the space and clarity you need to continue your day.
