Welcome.
What is yoga nidra?
Yoga nidra is a practice that is done in yoga,
So it's from the yoga tradition.
And in yoga nidra you're invited to lie down.
It's translated as yoga sleep,
Although you do not fall asleep.
You stay aware of the words.
Different schools do different types of Yoga Nidra.
For the school which I'm trained in,
Which is Integral Hatha Yoga,
We practice by lying down.
Focusing on the body,
Different parts of the body.
Then the breath.
Focusing on the mind for watching those thoughts.
Focusing on that experience of peace within you.
So that is yoga nidra.
And it's similar really to a body scan although it's got different elements.
And also NSDR which is non-sleep deep rest.
And that was created by Andrew Huberman.
Who took part of Yoga Nidra.
And made it more mainstream for those apps.
Find yoga a little bit scary.
So there's also NSDR,
Which is a very similar practice to yoga nidra.
Thank you so much for listening.
My name is Sandhya.
Have a wonderful day.
