Welcome to the Future Self Guided Visualization.
My name is Vanessa Loder and I'm so glad you're here.
Before we begin this meditation,
I recommend that you have a pen and paper nearby as you may want to do some writing immediately after the visualization.
If you're feeling safe and comfortable now,
I'd like for you to gently close your eyes.
And now you can just let your body relax.
Just relaxing in a nice easy way,
Feeling very comfortable.
Take a deep inhale now through your nose,
Deep into your belly.
And then hold it for a second or two.
And then exhale audibly through the mouth as you relax and release.
And doing that one more time with a deep inhale through the nose.
Holding it at the top.
And then releasing.
And now continuing to breathe normally,
Perhaps noticing the rise and fall of your chest or belly as you inhale and exhale.
With each breath continuing to relax.
If I were to say to you,
See a red bird in your mind's eye,
Could you see one?
Next,
I want you to see a yellow flower.
Just imagine it in your mind.
See a blue car.
See a dog and a cat.
See a green tree with lots of leaves and the wind blowing through the leaves.
This is the part of the mind we will be working with today.
This is the part of the mind that has the pictures and the memories.
This is the part of the mind that is active at night when you are sleeping.
Because this is the part that has the images and the symbols that we use in our dreams.
So,
This is the part of the mind we will be working with today.
So just for this little while that we do this today,
Have no problems and no worries.
Time enough for that later.
They'll always be there.
Later.
But just for this little while that we do this today,
Have nothing to worry about.
So enjoy the way that feels to not have anything to worry about.
And enjoy the way it feels to have relaxation moving through the body.
As the relaxation moves through the body,
If there is any tension,
Move it through the body.
Allow it to flow right out.
Flow right out.
Let it go.
Let it go.
We don't need it.
We don't need it.
So enjoy the way that feels.
With each breath you exhale,
Just let your body go deeper and deeper.
Relax.
Let all the muscles in your face and body relax.
Go loose and limp,
Just like a rag doll.
This is a luxury that very few people allow themselves.
To take a little time out of their busy day to just relax and not have to think about anything.
So take advantage of it while you can and enjoy the experience.
And remember,
When you awaken,
You will feel wonderful all over,
Just as though you've had a nice nap.
You will feel truly rested and refreshed.
Also remember,
If you hear any sounds in the room or outside the room,
They are only natural noises occurring in the background.
They will not bother you or distract you in any way.
If you hear anything,
It will just fade and become part of the background.
And this is very good.
Now,
I would like for you to imagine the most beautiful place in the world.
What you consider to be the most beautiful place in the world.
Where there's no worries and no problems.
It may be the forest.
It may be the seashore.
It may be a meadow.
Whatever you consider to be beautiful and peaceful.
Can you find a place like that?
No worries in a place like that.
It's peaceful.
Can you see the sky from where you are?
Look up in the sky and see if you can find a big white fluffy cloud.
I'm going to ask you to do something that might sound a little strange.
I want you to float up to that cloud and sit on it.
Imagine what that would feel like to sit on a cloud that holds your weight just like magic.
Some people think it feels like cotton or feathers.
It's very comfortable.
Lay back on that cloud and just let it absorb all of your weight.
It's such a beautiful,
Wonderful feeling.
It's like you don't have any weight at all.
If you want to,
You can even wrap the cloud around you like a warm,
Cozy blanket and snuggle down into the cloud.
That's such a beautiful,
Comfortable,
Safe feeling.
It's almost as though you don't even have a body as you become one with that beautiful,
Soft,
Comfortable,
Safe cloud.
The cloud is floating through the air,
Carrying you with it,
Soft and protected and comfortable and safe.
Drifting and floating,
Floating and drifting.
This cloud floats higher and higher into the sky,
Carrying you with it,
Soft and protected,
Comfortable and safe.
You can now see the whole region where you were beneath you.
Move up and up and up until you can see the beautiful globe of blue and green and white and enjoy the view.
Travel upward and upward until you're in blue-black space,
Silent,
Velvety and dark.
And this cloud is like magic because not only can it carry you up and up and up into space,
It can also carry you forward in time and space.
I'm asking the cloud to move and carry you forward in time and space to 20 years in the future.
The cloud is moving now,
Heading back down towards earth.
The cloud begins to float down towards earth 20 years into the future,
20 years from now.
Go ahead and let that cloud gracefully carry you down.
Notice earth starting to come into focus again.
The contours starting to get clearer and larger in your view.
Enjoy passing through the sky again as you make your way down.
As you begin to get closer to earth,
Start to notice that you are going to the home,
The dwelling place of your future self,
Yourself 20 years from now.
Start to notice that the cloud is taking you to meet that future self.
Notice what part of the world you are in.
Continue riding the cloud down,
Down,
Down,
Enjoying the views below.
Drifting and floating,
Floating and drifting.
Follow it all the way down until it takes you to the dwelling place of your future self and drops you off right there.
Take a look around.
What kind of place is this?
What is it like there?
What does it feel like?
Look around at the outside.
Then notice that there is a house,
A dwelling place.
Make your way towards the door.
As you approach the door,
See that your future self is coming to the door to warmly greet you and welcome you and take in their presence and face.
Let them invite you inside.
Notice what the inside of their house is like.
You might notice the furniture,
The architecture,
Any artwork on the walls or rugs or carpets on the floor.
Do they have fresh flowers or any type of decoration?
Walk around the house and notice what the inside of the house is like.
Notice now as your future self offers you something to drink and something to eat.
Your future self brings you to one of their favorite spots in the house for a chat.
They are present and ready to listen to you and share with you.
Ask your future self now,
What do you remember the most over the last 20 years?
What has mattered most to you?
She or he may answer you in words or just with a feeling,
Images or a facial expression.
Listen to what your future self has to say as you ask them,
What do you remember the most over the last 20 years?
What has mattered most to you?
Ask your future self,
What do I need to know to get from where I am to where you are?
What do I need to know to get from where I am to where you are?
Listen to their answer.
Again,
Your future self may answer in words or just with a facial expression or by giving you a certain feeling.
What do I need to know to get from where I am to where you are?
Now go ahead and ask your future self any other question about anything that you would like to ask,
Big or small.
You can ask about a dilemma or a tough situation in your life or anything else that you would like to hear their perspective on.
Go ahead and ask your future self anything else you would like right now.
What do I need to know about your future self?
Now,
Bring your visit with your future self to a close knowing you can come back and visit them anytime you'd like.
Thank your future self for the wisdom and the guidance they've offered you.
Notice as you are bringing your conversation to a close that your future self has a parting gift that they are very excited to give you.
And let them bring that gift to you now.
If the gift is not clear,
You can hold it up to the light until it becomes more clear.
Your future self may have some final parting words as well.
Receive this final message and say your goodbyes.
Make your way out of the house and find your way back to the cloud that brought you here.
Go ahead and step on the cloud,
Sit down,
Relax,
And let it begin to carry you upward again.
You can watch your future self's home getting smaller and smaller beneath you until it becomes a little dot on the globe as you move through the clouds all the way up,
Up,
Up through that dark,
Blue-black space.
Look down on the earth from space and see the earth turn back in time,
Back,
Back,
Back to the present day and time.
Your cloud slowly begins to travel back down to earth in the present time.
As you travel downward,
Start to see earth coming into focus beneath you.
See the landscape of your part of the world,
Your country,
Your region.
See the city where you live from a bird's eye view.
Ride that cloud all the way back down,
Down,
Down to the building that you're in right now,
Into the room where you're sitting,
Where you first began your journey.
Slowly come back into your body.
Start to feel your toes and fingers,
Perhaps wiggling them a little bit.
Feel the support of the chair,
The couch,
Or the floor beneath you.
Whenever you're ready,
Allow your eyes to open,
Turning the corners of your mouth up just a little bit.
I recommend you spend a few minutes journaling about what you saw,
Noticed,
Or experienced.
May all your future dreams and visions come true.
