Embracing Your Shadow Self - by Sally Clough

COURSE

Embracing Your Shadow Self

With Sally Clough

During this 5 day course we will delve into the world of our shadows. The repressed parts of ourselves that have been deemed unacceptable and are usually hidden beneath layers of shame and judgement. Each lesson will have a slightly different theme or angle to shadow work and I will provide you with journaling prompts for you to delve deeper into the parts of you that are in hiding. By the end of this course you will have a greater understanding of what the shadow is and will have taken a deeper look into your own shadow self. This course requires that you be brave, that you be willing to look at all of your parts, and that you do so with radical honesty, whilst holding yourself with kindness and compassion throughout.

Meet your Teacher

Having had a very tumultuous childhood Sally began her healing journey 9 years ago and she is neuro-divergent with cPTSD and AuDHD. Sally has worked with many different healing modalities over the years, both personally on her own journey, and in her offerings to others on a path of healing. Sally believes there is not one path of healing that suits everyone. There are many great healing modalities on offer and Sally has trained in many of them during the last 9 years. Sally has attended many trainings focusing on shadow work, has worked with her shadows, both her personal shadows and our collective shadows for many years, and brings all that she has learned into this 5 day offering on Insight Timer. Her purpose in life is to share what has helped her on her healing journey with others who are also on a path of healing. Having done the work, she understands how difficult the healing journey can be, how beneficial it can be to work alongside others on the same path, and how sometimes we just need another to hold space for us whilst we dive deep. Above all else, Sally wants you to remember how amazing you are, how brave you are for being on this journey, and encourages you to hold yourself with kindness and compassion at all times. You are loved. You are not alone.

Lesson 4

Investigating Our Childhood

In today's lesson we will delve deeper into our childhoods. Most of our beliefs about ourselves and the world around us are formed during childhood. These are mainly unconsciously held beliefs and it isn't until further investigation that we can bring these unconsciously held beliefs into the light and examine the truth of them. Journal prompts today will focus on our childhood with the intention of bringing more of our shadows into the light.

Lesson 5

Radical Honesty

In our final lesson I will discuss radical honesty and what it means, to be radically honest with ourselves and with others. We can not have true connection with others if we are not being honest with ourselves. We have to practice being with ourselves in full transparency so that we can be with others authentically. Our final journal prompts will ask us to be radically honest in our reflections.

For a five day course this covered a lot of reflection and deep thought. The timing was perfect for the journal prompts. The way that the speaker paced theirself which aligned with how long it took me to write. I appreciated having a few verbal reminders as I was writing but also quiet time worked really well. I found myself wishing I had someone to verbally process this/discussed this with.
