For today in this session.
I don't know if anybody is new to EFT here or if you've been and tapped along with me before but EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and it's a form of therapy where we tap on acupressure points in the body whilst cognitively thinking about a particular issue and where we're feeling it within the body.
So by tapping on the acupressure points we're regulating the nervous system which at the same time as cognitively thinking about something and bringing forward that awareness noticing the sensations,
Noticing how we feel about something,
That can start to activate the nervous system.
So by tapping on the acupressure points that regulates it.
So we're constantly doing this sort of push-pull where we're bringing things forward feeling them,
Thinking about them,
But then we're tapping which is reducing the charge on them.
So that's what we're going to do today.
We'll probably be here for about 20-25 minutes today.
It's a bit shorter than usual but still incredibly powerful and the one that we're doing today is a really good one to Remember,
Experience,
Think about how it is that it's working,
Where we're bringing forward,
How we're feeling and then feeling that release.
So that you can do this yourself as well in your own time.
Um because um so yeah it's tapping feeling safe in the body um and what comes to mind is those moments when we might feel overwhelmed or I don't know how old or what kind of stage of life any of you listeners are at,
But I'm 50 and I seem to be going through that stage where my body is doing all sorts of things that I don't really understand.
And one of which is sometimes having sensations and feelings um that come out of the blue,
You know,
It's either anxiety or overwhelm,
Feeling grumpy or irritable.
Um So today's tapping is really good for that too,
But whatever it is we can tie it in to be specific for you.
Come into the session,
Spend a minute.
Just to relax.
Don't have to be anywhere else right now.
You don't need to be thinking about what's next.
Just for these few minutes while we're here.
You can just bring the awareness into this room.
So.
.
.
I like to take a rating in these sessions from 0 to 10.
And notice.
How you're feeling.
So it's almost like we're going to do a little body scan really.
You can close your eyes wherever you're sitting or standing.
Bring the awareness into the body.
And notice how it's feeling.
Is it feeling okay and relaxed or is there any tension there?
So 10 would be highly activated and 0 feels completely safe and calm.
Now for these sessions,
Because I can't see you and work with you individually,
I would.
.
.
Would like to work on things which are around about six or seven at the highest,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Somewhere around there.
If you have intensity that goes up to 10 then that's where you probably want to reach out and work with a practitioner one-on-one.
So for these sessions,
Try and think of something,
Bring to mind,
Or just notice how the body is feeling right now and give it a rating,
0 to 10,
If you'd like to share,
That's fab.
Also,
If you would like to share what's coming up for you,
Is it Is this anxiety or overwhelm and there's a particular reason?
Or do you not know why you feel this way?
So maybe there's an unfamiliarity or a little confusion that's also okay.
But whatever you would like to share in the chat helps and I can weave into the tapping so it makes it really specific to you.
Great,
Thanks for sharing.
Morning,
Kenna.
So job search anxiety,
Okay.
Is there anything specific to that?
Is it.
.
.
The interview process.
Is it looking for a job and feeling like it's not there?
Is it reaching out to all of those people?
Whatever it is and then just notice where you might feel it in the body when you think about that.
Is there a tightness that comes up?
Or any tension in a particular place.
As always with this,
There's never any one right answer.
It can be anything that's good for you.
Yeah.
Okay,
Feel it in the stomach.
Great,
Thank you for sharing.
If anybody else would like to add,
Please do so.
If you don't,
Don't worry.
We're going to tap anyway in a minute.
You can add in your own words that are relevant to you as we go.
Mine are a guide.
If something else comes up for you that resonates more,
Please do use it.
All right.
Let's just take a nice full breath.
Let's settle into this moment.
Bring to mind.
What it is of how you're feeling in your body right now today.
We start tapping on the side of the hand.
As always,
It doesn't matter which hand.
Whatever feels good for you.
Okay,
I'll say some words,
Repeat them after me.
I'll leave space.
So even though part of my body feels on alert.
Acknowledge how this feels.
And I'm open to giving myself a little more safety today.
Even though I'm carrying all of this tension.
And anxiety.
I'm open to listening to my body.
And perhaps it doesn't have to hold on quite so tightly anymore.
And even though I sometimes don't recognize all of these feelings.
I'm willing to be gentle with myself.
And treat myself with kindness.
And just notice what's here.
Let's tap through the points,
Eyebrow points.
Where body feels tense.
I've been carrying a lot.
I'm just noticing the tightness in my body.
Noticing the anxiety in my stomach.
Noticing the pressure.
My nervous system has been working hard.
Maybe it's been trying to protect me.
Even if I don't like these feelings.
I'm open to acknowledging them.
And I'm simply noticing what's here.
Without judgment.
Without trying to change it.
And just noticing.
I have anxiety at the moment.
I'm trying to find a job.
Or maybe I have anxiety and overwhelm.
Because there's a lot going on right now.
Or maybe my body's changing.
And I don't always understand how it is.
Now it feels.
So even though it can feel really uncomfortable.
Maybe I could be thankful to my body.
Because it's trying so hard to keep me safe.
Although sometimes it feels a bit misdirected.
So even though I don't understand why I feel like this,
And I might not understand why I feel frustrated.
I'm open to the idea that my body is just trying to protect me.
And I've been adapting.
Maybe I've been carrying a lot.
Maybe I don't have to carry quite so much today.
And what if I could give my body permission?
Put a few things down.
I acknowledge how wonderful a job it does of keeping me alert.
Making sure I'm prepared.
But what if I could release some of this tension?
Perhaps I can soften a little.
Maybe I could let my shoulders relax.
Just a tiny bit.
I'm not forcing anything.
I'm not forcing myself to relax.
Because that's just more resistance.
More pressure,
More push.
I'm simply allowing.
A little more space.
Energetically.
A little more ease.
Opening up to a little more breath.
So it doesn't have to hold so tightly.
Maybe it's okay for my shoulders to soften.
My jaw to soften.
My breathing to deepen.
For my body to start to trust in this moment.
That I might just be okay.
I'm just going to stay tapping here but I'm curious how you guys are getting on.
If any thoughts have come up.
If any sensations have moved.
If you're SUD rating,
That's a subjective unit of distress,
That's a 0-10.
If anything in there has shifted and it can go up or down so I just want to check in before we move.
And start to create some inner safety.
Okay we'll keep going.
Okay so I feel a lot less attached to my anxiety,
Great.
So I was just thinking about you and when you're moving forward with your job search.
Maybe you can use this tapping point here on your collarbone and just remind yourself before reaching out,
Before sending that email or taking that next step.
You can come here and you can just say,
I am here.
In this moment.
I am breathing.
I am supported.
And this is safe for me to reach out.
Let's take it from the top to the eyebrow point.
I am creating inner safety.
Side of the eye,
Right now.
In this moment,
I am here.
I am breathing.
Under the nose.
I can support myself.
And I can start to notice what's real.
I love that,
Why do you keep yawning?
I was just about to explain,
As I always do on these sessions usually,
That yawning is what happens when doing tapping because you are shifting the energy and as it starts to move around the body and especially when there's certain thoughts or words that we say and they unlock something.
Um it can start to shift that energy and you can yawn you can burp Sometimes people cough,
Sneeze,
Stretch,
But yawning is a really big one.
So thank you,
Sam,
For asking.
Yeah,
So hopefully some of you are yawning as well,
It's not just me.
I feel like I need a sign in the background saying yawning is good.
All right under the arm.
So I'm just noticing what is real.
And maybe what I don't have to hang on to.
Top of the head.
I don't have to be prepared for everything.
I don't have to feel.
100% good enough to move forward.
Maybe I can just take the first step.
And safety can begin inside of me.
One breath at a time.
One moment at a time.
On the collarbone,
I can learn what safety feels like in my body.
As I start to feel more grounded.
Maybe I can give my body permission to rest.
And to release what no longer serves me.
So that I can come home to myself.
And reconnect with myself.
Reconnect with my body.
I don't have to be perfect.
I don't have to stay on guard.
Even though a part of me may think that I do.
I honour that part.
But it's okay to soften.
And I can choose to meet myself with compassion.
So I can really listen to what my body needs.
And I can create safety from within.
My body and I are on the same team.
Just needed a little reminder.
And it's okay.
I can take my time.
Find my way back.
So I can feel at home inside myself again.
I feel grounded.
I can find my feet on the floor.
Come to the collarbone.
Oh,
It's me yawning again.
I hope I'm not alone here.
Take another slow breath.
All right stop tapping and just notice how your body feels right now.
Maybe you can do a scan from the top of the head.
All the way down.
Down to the feet.
Then I think shift it.
Any tension.
Maybe you just feel a little bit more grounded than you did before.
Maybe it's a big change.
Maybe it's really subtle.
Love to hear if you want to share in the chat.
No worries if not.
I know sometimes it's quite nice to be quiet as well.
So this was just 20 minutes we did today and hopefully this can show that doing a few rounds of tapping.
And if you notice when you join these sessions,
I do them most Mondays.
I try and do every Monday unless I can't.
But you'll notice there's a rhythm to them where we bring up the issue,
We acknowledge it,
We really shine a light on it.
Because we spend so much of our time trying to push things away.
We bring it forward,
We think about it,
We hold it.
We sort of scrutinise it a little bit and go,
Well,
How do I feel about it?
And then we can start to soften it and break it down and introduce some safety.
And some Relaxation in the body,
Giving the body permission to relax.
So yeah,
Hopefully you'd start to understand that flow that we do.
And if you did take your rating in the beginning,
I wonder what it is now.
Um.
.
.
Whether it's reduced a little,
I feel quite calm.
Um and definitely more grounded.
I feel like I'm back down on the floor,
Which is wonderful.
So if this helps you today,
Thank you so much for joining.
