Welcome.
You've arrived at the end of the day and this is your time to return to yourself,
To leave behind the weight of doing and open to the gentle art of being.
Let this be a sanctuary of stillness,
A place where nothing is asked of you,
Nothing is expected,
Only that you rest and receive.
Take a moment to find comfort in your body,
Lie down in a way that feels natural,
Nourishing even.
Let your limbs unfurl,
Allow your shoulders to drop,
Your jaws to unclench,
Let your eyes fall closed,
Soft and heavy.
The day is done and now you can let go.
Begin by noticing the space around you,
The quiet,
The temperature of the air,
The way your body is being held by the surface beneath you.
Feel the support beneath your head,
Your spine,
Your legs,
As though the ground or bed beneath you is saying,
I've got you.
Now gently bring your attention to the top of your head,
Imagine a warm,
Soft light beginning to spread across your scalp,
Soothing every part of your mind,
As though it's melting away the mental chatter,
The to-do lists,
The noise of the day.
Let this soft light move down to your forehead,
Soothing out any tension,
Down through your brows,
Your eyes,
Your temples,
Your cheeks,
Let your jaw release completely,
You might even part your lips slightly,
Letting the face fall into rest,
And now that light travels down your neck and shoulders,
Feel your shoulders drop away from your ears,
Let go of the need to hold anything or anyone right now,
And just breathe,
Allow the light to move slowly through your arms,
Your elbows,
Wrists and hands,
Letting each finger soften as though they're floating.
Now bring your awareness to your chest,
Feel the subtle rhythm of your breath moving in and out,
The rise and the fall,
With each breath you become more grounded,
More still,
Feel the soft light continuing to your belly,
Let it relax fully,
No need to hold it in,
This is a place of deep wisdom,
Let it soften,
Feel your hips relax into the bed,
Imagine the light like a warm blanket wrapping around your pelvis,
Your thighs,
Calves,
All the way down to your ankles,
Your feet,
Your toes,
Your entire body now held in warmth,
Every cell softening,
Every breath inviting you deeper into stillness,
And now gently begin to notice the breath again,
Not to control it,
But to ride its wave,
Breathing in,
Breathing out,
With each exhale feel yourself dropping in a little deeper,
As though the breath is rocking you back and forth into a place of surrender,
And now begin to gently extend your exhale just a little longer than your inhale,
Try inhale for a count of four,
And exhale for six,
Slow,
Steady,
And effortless,
Allowing each exhale to be a sigh of relief,
A message to your body,
You can let go now,
You are safe here,
Now imagine you're entering a quiet sanctuary,
A place deep inside you where only peace exists,
It might be a cave,
A temple,
A forest,
A twilight,
Or a glowing night sky,
Let yourself wander there,
Explore its textures,
Sounds,
And scents,
This place exists for you alone,
A refuge of rest and stillness,
In this sanctuary you do not need to perform,
You don't need to improve,
Or heal,
Or figure anything out,
You are whole here,
You are already enough,
You may imagine curling up there,
Safe,
Warm,
And unseen,
Allowing the quietness to wrap around you like a soft cocoon,
Letting the breath slow even more,
And perhaps now the breath barely moves,
Just the whisper of air,
And you're free to repeat these affirmations silently,
Or simply receive them,
I am allowed to rest,
My breath carries me home,
There is no rush,
There is no urgency,
Sleep will come in its own time,
Until then,
I soften,
I soften,
I soften,
Now let go of the words,
Let go of the effort,
Feel your body dissolve into the bed,
Edges blurring,
Time slowing,
Mind quieting,
You may begin to drift now,
Into dreams,
Into the unknown,
If thoughts arise,
That's okay,
They're just passing clouds,
Let your breath be the anchor,
Let gravity take over,
And as you drift,
May you know,
You are loved,
You are not alone,
May your dreams bring you insight and sweetness,
May your body be replenished by rest,
And may you awaken tomorrow renewed,
Whole,
And gently alive,
Good night,
Sleep well.
