Here's a short mindfulness practice designed to help us feel centred and calm.
So first,
Finding a comfortable sitting or standing position.
And if you're standing,
Feet shoulder width apart,
With the knees slightly bent.
Either sitting or standing,
The back is straight and upright,
As if we were being pulled upwards by a thread.
And dropping the chin slightly,
So that the back of the neck can relax.
The shoulders relaxed,
And the hands resting.
Eyes can be closed,
Focused down,
Or focused softly off into the distance.
And to start with,
Breathing in and squeezing all of the muscles in the body.
The muscles in the face,
The shoulders,
The arms,
Hands,
Stomach,
Buttocks,
Legs,
Feet.
Holding all of those muscles tight.
And then,
Ah,
Relaxing and releasing the muscles on the out-breath.
Placing a hand on the belly.
And feeling the natural rise and fall of the body,
Moving as it breathes.
Imagining ourselves sitting or standing in warm sunshine.
Feeling that warmth all over our skin.
Maybe a slight smile comes to our face.
Centred,
Warm,
And breathing.
Breathing in nourishment and vitality.
Breathing out tension and anything else we need to let go of.
And if you wish,
You can continue,
Taking a moment to centre your body.
Imagine yourself in warm sunshine and breathing in nourishment anytime during your day.
Thanks for taking time to reconnect.
