Listening To Sensations - A Mindfulness Approach To Managing Pain
Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to explore how meditation can help you manage and possibly reduce your suffering from the experience of chronic pain. The first meditation in this series offers a trauma-informed way of listening to the body’s sensations, with soothing cues to help release physical tension in the body. As tension is released, the physical relaxation that ensues often decreases the severity of pain, or at the very least makes it feel more manageable. My hope is that all the meditations in this series will give you some peace, compassion, and power over the sensations of pain - allowing you to reclaim a life with more ease, joy, and empowerment.

Mindful Breathing Meditation For Pain
The experience of pain, particularly chronic pain is something that can pull us out of our body and get in the way of our moment to moment connection to and enjoyment of our lives. In this meditation, we’ll explore how to use our breath to reconnect to sensations within our body, next we’ll use the breath to allow for softening of any physical tension and discomfort within those sensations, and lastly we’ll explore how the breath can help us zoom out of the sensations - as if you were observing it from outside yourself. This process can be incredibly helpful in offering comfort and solace for our physical, mental, emotional, and deep spiritual well-being.

Yoga Nidra For Chronic Pain
This is a meditation around the practice of yoga nidra - or finding a state of deep rest while remaining awake, finding a deep connection to your inner world. In this meditation we will experience the felt sense of non-duality, noticing sensation in areas of the body where pain is present, and also areas where pain is NOT present. Noticing any emotions present, while also noticing the opposite emotions. These practices free us from the trap of being consumed by the experience of chronic pain, freeing ourselves to make space for the full spectrum of life’s experiences. Yoga Nidra is a wonderfully relaxing and empowering meditation experience. I would like to thank the training I received from the iRest Institute for inspiring this meditation.
