Welcome,
Find somewhere quiet,
Where you can be undisturbed.
Sit or lie down,
Let your body come to rest without striving.
This meditation isn't about achieving anything,
It's about letting go.
Allow the eyes to gently close,
And take a deep breath in through your nose.
Feel the lungs fill,
And then breathe out back through your nose.
So just resting,
We begin by letting the body know,
We are safe now,
We don't need to carry it all anymore.
Let your shoulders soften,
Let them drop,
Let the muscles in your face soften.
Feel the weight of the body in gravity,
With the gravity holding you,
Anchoring you,
Gently pulling you deeper,
Deeper into meditation,
Sinking into the surface that you are resting on,
Like a sinking stone that gently sways as it reaches for the bottom of the seabed.
When we sit in meditation,
Or lie down,
Something quite profound happens,
Something mysterious.
We run around the world,
Looking for ways to alleviate our pain,
But when we give it space in meditation,
A miracle happens,
An unfolding,
The pain somehow is resolved,
Not always,
But trust that every time you meditate,
The silence is healing,
And the pain is slowly leaving,
It's the ache you didn't even know you'd been holding,
And it's being drawn out gently by the silence,
Like a toxin pulled from a wound,
Like old water draining slowly from a blocked bath,
See if you can connect with this,
Viscerally,
The surrendering of tension,
Mental anguish,
Carry so much,
And we do not know the weight we bear,
We've learned to dance on the surface of smiles,
All the while heavy with sorrow we didn't even know was ours,
So let this be a moment of healing,
Of being still,
And let every breath out,
Be a letting go,
A dissolving,
A soft yes to life,
Even as it aches,
Even as it's uncertain,
No need to push,
In fact,
Accepting opens the door,
So that all that bothers you has the opportunity to leave,
So let the pain that no longer serves you begin to rise to the surface,
Without needing to fix it,
Without needing to name it,
Just trust that feeling it heals it,
That the body knows how to let go,
That the heart knows how to heal,
Maybe you've tried to gloss over pain,
Whatever you've used to run away from yourself can leave you feeling hollow inside,
But there's something deeper,
A real peace,
So now allow yourself to come home to that depth,
That joy which is not pleasure,
Pasted over pain,
That joy which rises like gold from a fire,
After all the dross has burned away,
Let it rise in you,
Filling up any empty spaces,
So as we let go of everything we've built to protect ourselves,
And soften,
In floods,
Something new to fill the space,
Healing,
Positive light,
And just resting,
Here and now,
Breathing gently,
Unravelling,
So coming into the whole body now,
Feeling the whole body,
Opening the ears to sounds outside your room,
And as we bring this meditation to a close,
Allow the eyes to gently open,
May the joy that lives in you rise more and more with every meditation,
And may your light show others the way home too.
