Hello and welcome to Five Minutes in Nature with me Liz Scott.
Well I'm just out in our village today admiring some trees that were planted last year and these were little tiny little snaplings.
Saplings?
Saplings?
These are tiny little saplings that have been planted all together and I am delighted to see that they are surviving.
I'm just trying to work out if any of them have failed but it looks like they've they've all they're all alive which is awesome to see.
Very excited to see the the trees growing here in the village.
It feels really good to be part of a a scheme in our village which is just doing a few little bits to encourage wildlife.
We've got a wildflower meadow and we've been planting a few trees and that kind of thing.
It's just good to see and we've been very lucky because we've had a bit of rain and I don't normally welcome rain because we often have more than our fair share where I live in England but it's actually been such a welcome overnight pouring of rain and I can still see on the grass as little globules of water.
It's not raining at the moment and I'm so hopeful that that rain has been absolutely soaked into the soil and not run off and down the drains.
Everything I think will suddenly leap into life.
We've had a long dry spell really for quite a while and you know the rain has just got me thinking really and this sort of summer rain.
It's about refreshment and nourishment.
So today as I was thinking about the rain and seeing the rain on the ground I've been reflecting on what needs refreshing and nourishing in my life.
It might be a question you want to ask yourself too.
Often I carry on in my habits and rituals and routines and there's nothing wrong with those.
I'm a great believer in having a good routine but what can happen sometimes is I get so entrenched in those routines and habits that I lose sight of the need for nourishment,
For allowing time and space.
A bit like these plants drinking deeply from the rain that has fallen overnight.
I need to find time to give myself time for nourishment and renewal as well.
Now nourishment and renewal for me and I often I like to talk to people about what feels nourishing to them but often people are under the impression that nourishment means doing something extra in their life.
Going on holiday or they need to do more exercise or take an action or go do yoga or I I'm not talking about that kind of nourishment.
I'm talking about the intrinsic nourishment that is within us all and what I mean by that is the deep connection we have to life,
The universal energy.
So when I talk about replenishing my soul or experiencing nourishment,
For me it's about settling my mind and looking within and drawing up that through my roots,
That nourishment,
That peace of mind,
That love,
That constant life force,
That energy and being present to that.
And I just see the parallel here as I'm looking at these long grasses on the side of the road and their heads are bowed over with the raindrops but I know that in the soil their roots are soaking up and drinking up that moisture that we had overnight in the rain and in the same way that I can almost feel them drinking that nourishment from their roots.
I know that that's what it feels like for me when I settle my mind and drink deeply from the well of the source of everything,
The wisdom,
The clarity,
The love that is deep within us all.
So today is just a reminder about nourishment in your life and what that might mean for you and the encouragement is that you look deeply within and draw your nourishment from within.
