Hey there,

My name is Lisa,

And this is a meditation to awaken and embrace what this season means for you.

In the 1947 version of Miracle on 34th Street,

Where a department store Santa Claus believes he truly is the real Santa Claus,

He is brought into the manager's office for a psychological examination and he says something very profound.

The character states,

Oh Christmas isn't just a day,

It's a state of mind.

That truth rings out to this day,

Where in the modern era we are still sometimes distracted by shopping,

The hustle and bustle,

The plans of the holiday season,

Not to mention what may be going on in our personal internal worlds.

There could be grief we are going through,

Financial challenges,

Family dynamics that are calling to be healed,

And the time that is meant to be spent on the precious moments that we will never get back may seem to get washed away in the midst of this overwhelm and expectations.

So this meditation is meant to honor that this season isn't just a season,

A moment,

A holiday,

It's a state of mind so that we may embrace not just existing,

But truly living out what this season symbolizes and means for us.

So with that,

Come on into your comfortable position,

Whatever that is for you today,

Whether that be sitting or lying on down,

Taking a nice big,

Deep inhale into your body and exhale sighing out,

Letting go.

Breathing into the belly,

Creating a big Santa Saint Nick belly,

Inhaling,

Exhaling,

Letting go,

Sighing out,

Releasing.

Breathing into the heart space,

Inhaling into the heart that gives and also receives,

Exhale,

Letting go.

And I invite you to acknowledge how you are feeling for this present season that is yours.

Knowing all that you are feeling,

Without judgment or criticism,

Like welcoming a friend home for the holidays.

And from this space,

I invite you to meditate upon this question,

What does this essence of the holiday season truly mean to you?

What should it be about?

I invite you to meditate on words and visions and images that may come up for you.

And I invite you to visualize your ideal holiday season.

Where do you feel this energy within the body?

What thoughts and images and people are coming up for you?

And there are no limits or rules to this vision.

Breathing into that vision and feeling where that vision resides and awakens within,

Within the body,

Feel it wash away any fears,

Doubts,

Or things that simply don't serve you on your life journey and in the long term.

And from this vision,

Let the image of a bright light or candle spark within you.

And I invite you to set an intention as you feel this light wash away anything from the heart,

From the crown of the head,

To the beating of your heart,

All the way down to belly,

Hips,

Knees,

And toes.

Letting this intention,

This light fortify you and strengthen you for any challenges that may come your way.

I invite you to think about those you love,

Experiences you love,

Beings that you love.

Invite that in and from that love of all these things around you,

Feel a light and a warmth wash over you,

From the crown of your head to the face,

Washing away and letting go of any tension,

Down the shoulders to heart space,

Down the back to hips,

Knees,

And toes,

Softening even more into the present moment,

Deepening your breath and setting an intention that grounds you into those you love,

That grounds you into the precious moments that are unique,

That are once in a lifetime.

Breathing in to that energy and welcoming it in,

Let it anchor you into what truly matters most.

Breathing on in and exhaling on out and taking a moment to reflect on yourself,

The joy you bring to others,

The difference you make just by being on this planet,

Knowing that the ocean of the universe is deeply embedded into your heart,

And you have the opportunity to be an expression of the ideal vision of your holidays,

You have the opportunity to be the embodiment of these intentions.

Breathing on in,

Exhaling on out,

And setting an intention for yourself for this season,

Whatever it is you would like to gift yourself,

I send you compassion for yourself and others,

I send you love,

And I send you the gentle reminder that this time is yours,

And may you be blessed with living it fully.

Breathing on in,

All the energy you wish to embrace this season,

And exhaling letting the rest wash away,

Letting it go,

I invite you to bring your awareness into the world around you as you deepen your breath,

You stretch,

And if the eyes are closed,

Gently float them on open,

Taking a nice big deep inhale into your body,

Exhaling on out.

Breathe into this world that is yours,

That is precious,

That is your canvas to manifest the season and the life that you deserve.

I thank you so much for joining me,

Feel free to come back to this practice whenever you feel you may need it most,

I hope that it serves and grounds you to stay fully present for this holiday season,

Om shanti shanti peace to you,

And all your loved ones,

Happy holidays,

And namaste.

Thank you, Liza! This will be the first Christmas without my dad, and losing the patriarch of our family has been so tough on my mom, and there have been some rift in the family. And all I keep wanting and wishing for is a peaceful Christmas… One that holds laughter and peace while we are together… What my father would’ve wanted, it’s what my mother needs and it’s my heart truest desire. When I stumbled on this meditation today… What I realize is the best I can do is be present in what I wish for my Christmas to be, and that is peaceful and around myself with those people and surround myself with those that we can find laughter in good memories, even in the middle of our grief. Thank you for the reminder of staying present! My soul is sad and at the same time as Joy and sorrow can exist in the same moment… This was a reminder that the joy is very important to me right now. Happy holidays to you.
