Hello beautiful little one,
My name is Kelly.
Thank you for joining me for this bedtime story tonight.
So just begin by snuggling down into your bed.
You can bring your favorite blankie or stuffy with you,
Whatever feels right.
Just allow your head to rest gently on your pillow.
And maybe you want to bring your covers all the way up to your chin so you can be all comfy.
And now take a nice deep breath in and blow it out your mouth.
And then breathe in whatever way feels good to you.
Maybe you'd like to count your breaths.
1,
2,
3,
Breathing until you count all 10 breaths.
Well done.
Go ahead and breathe in whatever way feels good to you now.
And bringing your attention now to the top of your head.
Sliding down into your forehead and all around your eyes and your nose and your mouth.
Noticing the back of your head as it rests on your pillow.
And your neck and your shoulders.
Maybe you notice your arms feeling very heavy or perhaps even a little floaty.
Noticing how your hands feel.
Tingly,
Warm.
Coming down into your body,
Your chest and your belly.
Feeling your back as it rests against the bed.
Coming down into your butt and your bottom.
Down into your legs.
All the way down to your feet and the tips of your toes.
Just allowing your body to feel very comfy and very relaxed.
Perhaps even feeling like you're sinking down into your bed.
Now just gently allowing your eyes to close and listening to my voice as I tell you about the story of Goldilocks and the three bears.
Once upon a time there were three bears.
Father bear,
Mother bear and baby bear.
Mother bear was very big.
Baby bear was very small.
Mother bear was not very big and not very small.
She was medium sized.
And the three bears lived in a little house in the forest.
Every day the bears ate porridge for breakfast.
It's kind of like oatmeal.
One day father bear said in his deep father bear voice,
Our porridge is too hot.
We can go and walk in the forest while it's getting cool.
So the three bears went out for a walk in the forest.
At the same time,
Somebody else was walking in the forest.
A little girl.
She had golden hair.
I bet you know her name.
It was Goldilocks.
I bet you know why she was called Goldilocks.
Because her hair was the color of gold.
Goldilocks saw the bears house.
She walked up the path and she knocked on the door.
There wasn't any answer.
She peeped in through the window.
It looked very nice inside.
She rang the bell.
Ding dong.
But there was no answer.
So you know what Goldilocks did?
Yep.
She walked into the bears house.
Oh,
Goldilocks.
She saw the porridge on the table.
There was a big bowl for father bear.
A medium sized bowl for mother bear.
And a small bowl for baby bear.
Goldilocks was very hungry.
She tasted father bear's porridge.
But she didn't like it because it was too salty.
I don't like this porridge.
It's too salty,
Goldilocks said.
Then she tasted mother bear's porridge.
But she didn't like it at all because it was too sweet.
There was too much sugar in it.
I don't like this porridge.
It's too sweet,
Goldilocks said.
Next,
She tasted baby bear's porridge.
Mm,
She said.
I like this porridge.
It's just right.
And she ate all of baby bear's porridge.
Goldilocks looked around and she saw three chairs.
First,
She sat in father bear's chair.
But it was too hard.
She got off the chair and she said,
I don't like this chair.
It's too hard.
Next,
Goldilocks sat in mother bear's chair.
But it was too soft.
She got off the chair and she said,
I don't like this chair.
It's too soft.
And then Goldilocks sat in baby bear's chair.
And it was just right.
She said,
I like this chair.
It's just right.
But do you know what happened?
Goldilocks was too big for the chair.
And the chair broke.
And Goldilocks fell on the floor.
Oh,
Poor Goldilocks and poor baby bear's chair.
Goldilocks was tired now.
And she wanted to sleep.
Where was she going to sleep?
Hmm,
Could she sleep on the table?
No.
Could she sleep in baby bear's chair?
No,
Because it was broken.
So Goldilocks went off to look for a bed to sleep in.
She found the bedroom.
And there she saw three beds.
Father bear's bed was very big.
Mother bear's bed was very medium sized.
And baby bear's bed was very small.
Goldilocks got into father bear's bed.
But it was too hard.
She climbed off the bed and said,
I don't like this bed.
It's too hard.
And so then she tried out mother bear's bed.
But it was too soft.
I don't like this bed either.
It's too soft.
Then Goldilocks got under baby bear's bed.
She laid down and pulled up the blanket and said,
I like this bed.
It's just right.
And she closed her eyes and went to sleep.
While Goldilocks was sleeping,
The three bears came home.
They were hungry after their walk.
Father bear looked at his bowl of porridge.
He was cross.
And he said in his deep father bear voice,
Who's been eating my porridge?
Mother bear looked at her porridge.
And she was crossed.
And she said,
Who's been eating my porridge?
Baby bear looked at his bowl.
And he was very cross.
And he said,
Who's been eating my porridge?
And then he said,
It's all gone.
The three bears looked at their chairs.
Father bear said,
Who's been sitting on my chair?
Mother bear said,
Who's been sitting on my chair?
And baby bear looked at his chair and said,
Who's been sitting on my chair?
And look,
It's broken.
The bears went into the bedroom.
Father bear looked at his bed and said,
Who's been sleeping in my bed?
Mother bear looked at her bed and said,
Who's been sleeping in my bed?
Baby bear looked at his bed and said,
Who's been sleeping in my bed?
And there she is.
Goldilocks got such a fright.
She jumped out of bed and ran to the window.
She climbed out of the window and ran and ran and ran.
And the three bears never saw Goldilocks again.
As you become more and more sleepy now,
Your arms and legs might be feeling very tired after hearing the adventures of Goldilocks.
As you become more and more sleepy,
As your arms and legs begin to feel very heavy,
Sinking down into your bed,
You may become more and more sleepy as you listen to the sound of my voice,
Maybe the sounds in the room around you.
And as you just let the sounds fade away and pay attention to the rhythm of your breath as it gets slower and slower,
Getting easy and effortless,
Eyelids getting heavy,
And knowing that you can drift off,
Comfy and cozy into blissful slumber,
Feeling more comfy and relaxed,
Drifting off into a sleepy state where you can dream wonderful dreams,
And knowing that tomorrow you will awake,
Refreshed,
Energized,
And ready to start your day.
Sleep well,
Little one.
Namaste.
