New moons are traditionally about planting seeds, setting intentions for what you desire. They are not times to take any action, not yet, but rather times to pause to simply consider what the desires are and see what happens with them as the moon begins to wax toward the full. Practice this meditation within about 3 days before or after the new moon. You may like to have a pen and paper handy to write down what you discover.

Welcome to this meditation for the New Moon phase,

For calling in what you desire.

It can be done within about three days before or after the New Moon when the moon is quite dark.

If possible,

Do this on the night of the New Moon itself.

You may also like to have a pen and paper available for this meditation.

Take a moment to get comfortable for your meditation.

That might mean that you're seated or lying down,

Just wherever you're comfortable enough to focus on your meditation.

You may like to take a few deep breaths just to get here,

To let go of whatever's been going on today.

The New Moon is a moment when the moon metaphorically pauses in the sky.

It recedes into shadow.

We often have the craving to do something similar around this time.

To slow down,

To be alone,

To recede into our own dark shadows,

To think our thoughts and feel our feelings.

Close your eyes if that feels comfortable.

Allow yourself to be in a little bit of darkness.

Begin to deepen your breath.

See if you can allow your body to relax enough that your breath is free to move wherever it's needed.

Notice if you're holding tension anywhere,

Like your jaw,

Shoulders or belly,

And see if you can soften that.

Sometimes tension in the body is protecting us from feelings that we don't have the space to feel.

This New Moon meditation is that space.

Any feelings that you may have here are welcome.

Let's take a moment to simply feel into the body and notice what's there.

Now begin to tune in,

Especially to the space of your pelvis,

Your low belly,

Your pelvic floor.

Energetically,

This is an area of creativity and desire.

When we can soften enough to hear the quiet voice of this energetic center in the body,

We can sometimes discover what it is we desire.

Continue to breathe deeply into this place.

Even put your hands there if you like,

On or around your low belly and pelvis.

Let's take some time to consider the question.

In this moment of darkness and self-reflection,

This is a moment when there is no light from another shining upon us,

So we can be alone with our thoughts,

Feelings and true desires.

What do you want when you allow yourself to listen in to the quiet space we've created here?

During the New Moon,

We can dream.

We can fantasize.

We don't need to let reality in.

Not yet.

We can take the time to dream big,

Get really clear on what our desires actually are.

Go ahead and name the desires that are coming up for you in this moment.

You may like to write them down.

If you need a little bit more time to write them down than you're given in this meditation,

Simply pause the meditation,

Finish your writing,

And then restart when you're ready.

You don't need to know right now what you're going to do about your desires,

What you need to shift or change to let them happen.

Tonight,

It's enough to know that you have those desires.

If you'd like,

Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly.

Name your desires once again,

Like an incantation,

A spell that you're speaking out loud.

If you're not in this act,

You're drawing in the energy of those things that you hope for.

All the rest can come later.

In the next two weeks or so,

With the waxing moon,

Allow the knowledge of your desires to sit with you.

Let them do their magic simply by being known,

Being named by you.

You may take some action around them during this waxing moon,

Or you may not be quite ready yet and that's just fine.

Simply allow the awareness of these desires to stay with you.

If you did write them down,

Keep the paper somewhere that you can look at from time to time,

Like in your wallet or nightstand,

And check in with them around the full moon.

And I wish you a beautiful waxing moon cycle.

That was very nice. I did notice a small typo in the description (not sure you have the ability to go in and change) towards the bottom it says to do within 3 days of the full moon instead of the new moon. 🙂 Thank you for this. It was perfect for this Cancer New 🌚
