Intuitive Three Card Reading For Beginners
This is a guided card reading exercise where you will complete a three-card reading for yourself, with cards to represent the past, present, and future. The exercise includes an opening meditation and prompt questions to help you discover the meanings in the cards. You will need a deck of oracle cards and a pen and paper. This exercise is a part of my course "Intuitive Card Reading For Beginners," so if you enjoy the exercise, you may enjoy listening to the whole course too.

Hello and welcome to this guided card reading practice.
In this session you're going to complete a three card reading for yourself with cards to represent the past,
Present and future.
So you'll need some cards to do the exercise.
You can use any kind of oracle cards or tarot cards,
Or if you don't have those you can also use playing cards,
Although it'll be easier for you to use cards with pictures on them,
As these will be easier for you to find a message in.
And you're also going to need a pen and paper to make some notes on what you see.
So if you need to,
Just pause the recording now to get what you need.
This is the same exercise as the three card reading practice in day four of my course Intuitive Card Reading for Beginners.
So if you are completely new to card reading,
You might find it useful to listen to the course for a longer introduction to reading the cards intuitively.
And for some more guidance on getting started.
And for those who have already taken the course,
I've recorded this track so that you can listen and practice this exercise whenever you want to,
Without having to listen to the other course information every time.
There's also a free track called Intuitive One Card Reading for Beginners for you to practice with one card as well.
In this exercise,
You'll be reading the cards with your intuition and allowing any meanings to come to you without any external sources of information.
So if the cards that you're using do have traditional or set meanings,
Like with the tarot,
Then just for now,
Ignore those meanings.
For the purpose of this exercise,
See if you can look at those pictures with fresh eyes,
As if you'd never seen them before.
Don't worry about what the book that came with the card said,
Or what anyone else has told you those cards mean.
This exercise is for you to find the meanings for yourself.
We'll begin with a meditation to make an intention for the reading.
So when you're ready,
Close your eyes and take some deep breaths.
Leave the events of the day to one side for now and bring your focus to your reading.
Bring your question or intention into your mind.
Take a moment to acknowledge it and just take some time to make the intention that your reading is for your highest good and well-being and for the well-being of all beings.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes and shuffle the cards.
Place the cards face down and cut them with your non-dominant hand,
Placing the bottom pile on top of the top one.
Now take the card from the top of the pack and place it face down on the surface in front of you.
Take the next card from the pack and place it to the right of the first one.
And take the next card from the top of the pack and place it to the right of the second one.
So you should now have three cards in a row,
All facing downwards.
When you're ready,
Turn over the first card.
This card represents the past.
Take a look at the card.
What are the first thoughts or impressions that come to you?
Is there an aspect of the card that you feel especially drawn to?
Does the card evoke a certain feeling for you?
What does it make you think of?
Make a note of your immediate impressions of the card.
Now look at the card again.
How would you describe the overall energy of the card?
What feeling do you get from the colours and the pictures?
Is the energy happy or sad?
Simple or complex?
Does it imply movement and change or stillness and stability?
Are there some other feelings or impressions that you get from the card?
Make a note of whatever you see.
Now look at the card in a little more detail.
What area of life does it seem to be related to?
Does it appear to be about something physical and material?
Or something spiritual,
Emotional or mental?
Is it related to a specific thing,
Home,
Money,
Work,
Relationships,
Your thoughts or feelings,
Your spiritual path?
Remember that sometimes the feelings and impressions we get don't always seem logical,
So make a note of whatever impression you feel from the card is,
Even if it wouldn't match your logical interpretation of the pictures.
Now have a look at the card and see if there is anything hidden that you hadn't already noticed,
Any small details that you didn't see before or anything else that you feel when you look very closely at the card.
Make a note of what you find.
And now close your eyes and take a few long deep breaths in and out.
Now open your eyes and look at the card again with fresh eyes.
What do you feel that the card means?
Write down your feelings freely,
However they come.
It doesn't matter if it's completely unrelated to what you've written previously.
Just write down what you feel as you look at the card.
When you're ready,
Turn over the second card.
This card represents your present.
Again what are the first thoughts or impressions that come to you as you look at the card?
Is there an aspect of the card that you feel especially drawn to?
Does the card evoke a certain feeling for you?
What does it make you think of?
Make a note of your immediate impressions of the card.
Now take a look at the card again.
How would you describe the overall energy of the card?
What feeling do you get from the colours and the pictures?
Is the energy happy or sad,
Simple or complex?
Does it imply movement and change or stillness and stability?
Are there some other feelings or impressions that you get from the card?
Make a note of whatever you see.
Now look at the card in a little more detail.
What area of life does it seem to be related to?
Does it appear to be about something physical and material?
Or something spiritual,
Emotional or mental?
Is it related to a specific thing,
Home,
Money,
Work,
Relationship?
Your feelings or thoughts?
Your spiritual path?
Now have a look at the card and see if there is anything hidden that you hadn't already noticed.
Any small details you didn't see before or anything else that you feel when you look very closely at the card.
Make a note of what you find.
And now close your eyes and take a few long deep breaths in and out.
And open your eyes,
Looking at the card again.
What do you feel that it means?
Write down your feelings however they come.
Even if it is unrelated to everything else you've written about the card.
Just write what you feel as you look at the card.
And when you're ready,
Turn over the third card.
This card represents your future.
So what are the first thoughts or impressions that come to you as you look at this card?
Is there an aspect of the card that you feel especially drawn to?
Does the card evoke a certain feeling for you?
Make a note of your immediate impressions.
Now take a look at the card again.
How would you describe the overall energy of the card?
Is it happy or sad?
Simple or complex?
Does it imply movement and change or stillness and stability?
What other feelings or impressions do you get from the card?
Make a note of whatever you see.
And now look at the card in some more detail.
What area of life does it seem to be related to?
Is it related to a specific thing?
Your home,
Money,
Work,
Relationship?
Your thoughts or your feelings?
Your spirituality?
And now look at the card and see if there is anything hidden that you haven't already noticed.
Are there any small details you didn't see before?
Anything else you feel when you look closely at the card?
Make a note of what you find.
And now close your eyes and take some long deep breaths in and out.
Open your eyes and look at the card again with fresh eyes.
What do you feel that the card means?
Write down your feelings freely however they come.
Close your eyes again and take some long deep breaths as you finish the reading.
And when you're ready open your eyes and take a look at your notes.
And you might find that for one,
Two or all of the cards there's a very clear message that you understand already.
And if that's the case you don't need to analyse any of your notes any more than that.
If the meaning of one or more cards aren't so clear for you read back over the notes that you made and the meaning may become more clear.
If there are specific words or themes that come up many times underline those words and make a list at the bottom of the most frequently recurring words or themes from that card.
You might find that the meanings are more clear for one or two of the cards and less clear for the others and that's okay.
Look at what you have and remember that further insight can often come with some time for processing.
And as you look at the insights and meanings you have for each card by putting them together you may find that a pathway emerges between the past present and future and that you can see how the cards come together to give a greater picture of your question or intention.
If this doesn't happen remember not to worry.
Keep your notes and see what happens in that area of your life over time.
Well done for completing your three card reading.
If you've enjoyed this practice and haven't yet taken the intuitive card reading for beginners course you might enjoy listening to the course for more guidance to get started with reading cards intuitively and for more practices like this one with one and three cards.
I hope you've gained some insights from this reading and thank you for listening today.
