It is time to rest,
Dear one.
To switch from doing mode to being mode.
And allow your body to drift into deep,
Restful sleep.
As you settle into bed,
I invite you to take long,
Slow breaths.
With each in-breath,
Invite in a sense of ease and relaxation.
And with each out-breath,
Invite anything you might be holding onto from the day or thoughts of tomorrow to release.
Imagining a dial in your head connected to your cognitive brain and with gratitude for how well it has served you.
Turning it as far down as feels comfortable,
Maybe even all the way off.
And imagine a dial in your body connecting you to your body,
Heart,
Intuition,
The part of you that governs sleep.
And turn that dial on and as far up as feels comfortable.
With each breath,
Allowing yourself to drop in even more deeply into your body,
Into the present moment.
And as you do,
Start feeling,
Sensing,
Or imagining a wave of golden light filtering in through your crown.
And spread through the neural pathways of your mind,
Dissolving thought,
Dissolving activity and doing,
Shifting you into being mode,
Into a state of rest and relaxation.
And feel the wave of golden light spreading to your nervous system,
Into all of your nerve endings.
Shifting from a state of alertness into a state of rest and digest.
Feeling the golden light spreading,
Soothing,
Dissolving any stress and tension from your body.
Spreading,
Spreading,
Spreading all the way to your toes.
Letting the energy down,
Down,
Down into the earth.
You are beginning to feel a softening,
Floating,
Dense matter dissolving.
And another wave of golden light washes through your crown and spreads to the muscles of your face,
The muscles around your eyes,
Your jaw.
Soothing and softening,
Your eyes feel both light and heavy.
Maybe a yawn escapes your mouth as the muscles all around it soften and loosen,
Relax.
And the golden light spreads to the muscles of your neck,
Your shoulders,
Down your arms,
All the way down your fingertips.
And then spreading back up to the upper back,
Mid and lower back muscles.
Soothing,
Softening,
Relaxing.
And down the muscles of the chest and the abdomen to the pelvic muscles.
Softening,
Soothing,
Relaxing.
Down the muscles of the thighs and the calves,
All the way down to the tips of the toes.
Softening,
Floating,
Dense matter dissolving,
Beginning to drift.
And as you do,
Another wave of golden light filters in through your crown,
Spreading into your bones.
Softening,
Making space.
Soothing,
Loosening.
Starting with the cranial bones,
Spreading.
Dense matter dissolving to the neck,
Shoulder blade,
The bones of the arms,
And all the way down to the metacarpals.
And then down each vertebra,
One at a time.
And softening,
Making space to the pelvic bones,
The bones of the legs,
Spreading,
Softening,
All the way to the metatarsals.
Softening,
Floating,
Dense matter dissolving,
Feeling the space in between,
Beginning to drift.
And another wave of golden light washes through the crown,
Shifting the frequency of your brainwaves to slow,
Deep delta waves.
This frequency sweeps through your whole body,
Side to side and down,
Spreading into your tissues and lymph,
Into your bloodstream,
Your heart and lungs,
Into all of your organs,
And turning your whole body to the rhythm of the earth,
The oceans,
Of deep,
Restful,
Restorative sleep.
As your body softens,
Dense matter dissolving,
You find yourself at the top of ten stairs that are leading you down deeper and deeper into restful sleep.
You step onto the tenth,
And it lights up.
You go down,
Nine and eight,
Resting,
Relaxing,
Drifting,
Floating.
Down,
Down,
Seven and six,
You are safe,
You are held,
Going deeper and deeper into rest,
Readying for deep,
Restorative sleep.
Five and four,
Resting,
Relaxing,
Drifting,
Floating.
Three and two,
You are safe,
You are held,
Going deeper and deeper into rest.
As you step down onto the last step,
It lights up and dissolves into particles of light.
You are drifting,
Floating,
Into sleep,
Sleep,
Sleep.
