There are days when loneliness clings to you like a second skin,
I know,
When no matter how much you claw at it,
Staying busy,
Seeking the company of others,
Trying to fill the void with the habits that helped you feel safe once,
You cannot shed it,
Layers upon layers of old stories,
Of younger selves clamoring for the love they didn't adequately receive.
The wounding is deep and there's no superficial fix,
I know.
I invite you to sit with me,
To slow the grasping with nice,
Gentle breaths,
Going at your own pace,
Finding the rhythm that soothes your nervous system,
Because you matter,
What you need matters.
The truth is you are not alone,
You are surrounded by other hearts,
Beating,
Longing for the connection we are all wired for.
Feel your breath,
Notice all the places it touches as it enters your body and as it leaves your body,
The way it connects the inner and the outer.
If you feel called to,
Invite your hands to move to any part of your body they feel drawn to,
Or simply feel where they are resting now,
Feel the quality of your own.
If your hands could transmit something to the parts that feel lonely,
What might they want to convey?
And this could be verbally or non-verbally,
Allowing yourself to open to any message that wants to come through,
And if nothing does,
That's okay too.
And now feeling all the points of contact between your body and the surface you're sitting on,
Inviting yourself to land a little bit more in your body with each present moment.
And as you do,
Begin to tune into the rhythm of the earth.
You might sense it as a vibration,
Pulsing,
Or simply have a knowing that it is there.
Feel our planet's unconditional generosity,
Providing us with food,
Shelter,
The air we breathe.
Start to feel the connection,
Perhaps in a subtle way right now,
To all living things.
We cannot survive alone,
Calling in all your scared,
Lonely inner child parts to join it in with this circle of light.
You are not alone.
You are loved.
You are held.
You are safe.
