I created this meditation for those who are suffering or in pain.
So I understand that there isn't necessarily a comfortable position when you're in pain,
But see if you can find one that best suits your body right now.
Closing your eyes,
Allowing yourself grace to move as you need to move,
Giving yourself a moment to just begin to focus on the area of your body that is causing you pain.
And just watch that area as you breathe,
Focusing on the sensation and labeling it.
Some pain feels like a burning or a stabbing.
There is pulsing pain.
See if you can assign a definition to your pain.
Notice the rhythm of the pain.
Notice if it moves when you pay attention to it,
If it scatters or dodges.
Continuing to feel your breath steady,
I invite you to begin to go a little bit deeper with the breath,
Seeing if you can direct the breath to the source of pain,
Keeping your focus there like a light beam,
Breathing and focusing.
If your pain is of the sort in which you are in mental anguish,
Just focus on the mind.
Imagine you can see the origin of the thought.
If it's a joint or stomach pain,
Endometrial pain,
Muscle pain,
Just focus on the source,
Seeing if you can get to the very origin in your body and breathing into that space,
Understanding that you don't have to try to will anything away.
It's not your responsibility to ignore or mask the pain.
Simply pay attention,
Breathing and focusing and courageously looking the pain squarely in the face.
Now I invite you to release this focus and begin to focus on an area of the body where you feel no pain.
Find an area that's neutral and just notice what it feels like.
Notice the change.
It might be softer.
It might feel like nothing at all.
Just notice this place in your body where there is no painful sensation at all.
And breathe into that area.
Breathe into every area of the body where you do not feel pain.
See if you can expand the sensation.
Again,
Not trying to mask the pain or ignore the pain.
Simply expand the sensation that is your homeostasis,
That is your natural state.
Now release this image and just continue to breathe.
And notice what you're thinking.
Notice the thought process.
And take this opportunity to recognize how strong you are,
How courageous you are,
How resilient you are.
Take this opportunity to be grateful for every part of you that is free of pain.
And take a moment to acknowledge the message of the pain.
Promising to listen to the body,
To what it's saying,
What it's demanding.
And send the pain itself gratitude for its lessons,
For its ability to remind you of how strong you are.
In recognizing that the pain is not an enemy,
But a natural part of our body's process.
We can learn to better listen to our body.
We can learn to find ways to work with the pain,
To understand it and transmute it.
So be open to this idea of being truly receptive to the message of the pain.
As counterintuitive as it seems,
Just try to ease and open to the pain.
Now bring your attention back to the breath.
And just notice the way that the whole body feels.
See if you can tune into the space around the body,
Beyond the body,
The energy that's surrounding you.
Just give yourself permission.
Permission to listen and heal.
Permission to listen to the message that will help you to heal.
Permission to move forward,
To move beyond.
Now take a few more breaths,
Slow,
Steady and deep.
Noticing how the entire body and space around the body feels.
Allowing a sort of light to move throughout the body and beyond the body.
Allowing this light to be a healing energy,
A receptive energy.
Take a nice deep inhale.
And as you exhale,
You can keep your eyes closed or gently blink them open.
And if you would like to move forward in your day,
See if you can find a little gentle movement through the toes and fingers.
Find a gentle stretch.
Or if you're in a position to relax,
Just simply stay with this visualization as long as you can.
I am wishing you health,
Wellness,
Love,
And all good things.
