Have you noticed how quickly that critical voice can arrive?
The one that replays what you should have seen.
How you could have done it better.
How everyone else seems to manage so easily.
Let's sit with that for a moment together now.
Softening the eyes.
Softening the breath.
In my sessions as a kinesiologist,
I get to see how the body responds to thoughts and narrative that come from the inner critic.
When someone says a sentence like I always get this wrong.
And then.
.
.
When I test that narrative against the body.
Systems weaken.
And the strength of the body immediately decreases.
So what we do is we find a kinder sentence.
When that's true.
And then,
When saying that.
.
.
And tasting the kinder option against the body.
We see the strength come back immediately.
It's quite amazing to see how quickly the body responds.
And we can notice it without tasting.
You can simply.
.
.
Make a statement either out loud.
.
.
Or quietly internally.
And notice how your body feels in response to that.
And then.
.
.
Use kinder words.
And then notice the physical response thereafter.
You see,
The body knows the difference long before the mind even agrees.
So let's practice using kinder words now.
Please place a hand on your chest.
Another hand on your forehead.
This creates a conscious healing circuit.
Research on this position.
Shows us that it lowers cortisol.
Hormone your body releases under stress.
Now can you say to yourself,
Either internally or aloud,
Even though I may be feeling and fill in the emotions that you are feeling here.
I choose and then fill in what you do choose for yourself.
For example,
Even though I am feeling irritated.
Low Anxious I choose to focus on calm I choose to welcome in people.
I choose to ground myself by connecting with the surface beneath me.
In this way,
You acknowledge,
The feelings.
While at the same time guiding your choice of conscious thought.
So each time you meet the critic in this way,
It has a little less to hold onto.
And slowly the kinder voice becomes the one you hear more often.
