This short story reveals the mind of the critic, judging not only others harshly but herself too. The childhood wound is “I am not good enough” which plays out into perfectionism and control. This is part of a series of short stories depicting other archetypal states such as the wounded child, saboteur and victim child. Stories have a natural manner of triggering responses within, heightening and deepening our self-awareness. Overtime, such self-awareness leads to self-healing. To delve deep into the above mentioned archetypes take a look at the courses I have available for you 'Archetypal Psychology' and 'More Archetypal Psychology'.

She could never understand why people said she was rude.

She didn't think she was rude.

She merely stated facts as they were.

She just can't stand to hear the truth,

She thought to herself as she picked fluff off her pants.

The laundry was done just yesterday and fluff was already collecting on the fabric.

Surely the laundromat should use detergent that kept fluff off?

Her mind wandered to the party happening this weekend.

Would the twins be there?

They always wore the worst makeup.

They thought it was lovely.

Only they knew.

Someone must surely tell them.

Perhaps she should drop a stronger hint the next time she saw them.

As her daughter bounced in the room she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and remanded herself for having the muffin this morning.

Must really get rid of more kilos,

She thought.

The daughter then pushed a paper in her hands with a drawing of her mum.

Who is that?

That's you,

Mummy.

But I look so fat.

But beautiful mummy,

Look at the red lips I gave you.

It would be better if you gave me a slimmer waist,

Darling.
