This guided visualisation meditation will take you on a journey to connect back to your inner child. We all have an inner child inside of us, and when we neglect them or ignore them, we forget about our own needs and wants. In this short meditation practise, I will guide you back and help to heal your inner child wound.

Welcome to this meditation for Inner Child Healing.

Find yourself in a comfortable position,

Either seated or lying down.

Our inner child is the part of us that remembers playing with your favourite toy and creating imaginary worlds.

Your inner child is the part of you that remembers the excitement of your birthday party and opening your presents.

Your inner child is also the part of you that felt scared,

Bullied,

Alone and frightened.

Your inner child remembers all the feelings from joy to sadness,

Confidence and guilt.

As we grow up,

We try to remove this inner child within us,

Escape it or push it away.

The truth is that it is always here within us.

It's also the part of us that still gets excited when we see butterflies or puppies or things that make us smile and have always made us smile.

In this meditation,

We are going to welcome this inner child into our life,

Back where they belong,

To soothe them,

Hold them and make them feel safe.

Take a deep breath in,

Hold at the top and exhale,

Release.

Let's do that one more time.

Take a deep breath in,

Hold and exhale,

Let it go.

Return to your normal breathing,

Present here in this moment.

If you feel comfortable,

You can begin to close your eyes or soften your gaze.

Imagine a beautiful garden in your mind.

It's a sunny day,

The flowers are blooming,

You can see all your favourite flowers.

You can smell the scent of lavender,

Roses and freshly cut grass.

In this garden,

You notice a swing with two seats,

Side by side.

You feel drawn to walk towards it,

Your bare feet in the grass.

You sit down on the swing and begin to push into your feet and you rock up and down,

Feeling the excitement of the movement,

Your feet off the ground,

Feeling like flying on this swing.

Suddenly you hear your name.

You stop swinging and look to the person calling you.

You realise it's you,

But the five year old version of you.

You notice them waving at you with a big smile and your favourite teddy in their hand.

They walk over to you and sit next to you on the swing.

You look into each other's eyes and share a smile.

Then your younger self looks down to the ground,

The smile fades and you hear your child self say,

I miss you.

Hearing these words,

You reach your hand out to hold your younger self.

They look up to you and you hear the words,

I miss you too.

Do you forgive me?

Can we be friends?

Your five year old self looks into your eyes.

You see a huge beaming smile across their face,

Giddy and excited as they reply,

Best friends forever.

They get off the swing and run into your arms,

Giving you the biggest hug you've ever had.

You hug them back and share this beautiful embrace.

Your younger self then runs off to the garden,

Picks up your favourite flower and runs back to give you one.

As they pass the flower over to you,

They say,

I love you.

You reply,

I love you too.

As you share another long embrace,

A bright white light covers the two of you.

This white shield protects both of you and holds you in this moment together.

The rest of the garden begins to disappear,

But the two of you are still hugging in the white ball as the background fades to black.

A freeze frame of the two of you in what appears to look like a snow globe captured in this image together.

You return to your present day bedroom and see yourself putting this snow globe in a special place in your room,

Maybe even your bedside table.

You look at it and a smile appears on your face.

You have embraced your inner child and allowed them back into your life.

They are always there with you.

You make them feel safe and they make you see the world with childlike wonder.

You take a deep breath in and exhale.

You feel calm and grateful for this experience to see your five year old self once again.

Come back to the present moment and when you're ready,

You can open your eyes knowing that you have made that connection with your inner child and they are with you and within you,

Always.

Thank you so much for practicing with me.

I hope to practice again with you too.
