In life, it can be incredibly difficult to do anything that we actually want to do whether that be sitting down to meditate or going to the gym. What is the force that impresses itself upon us each and every moment to try and keep us from doing those things? In this talk, I take a look at the idea of Resistance and how we can take it from being an enemy to an ally.

Thank you. Resistance has been strong lately as I’m gaining traction on a big goal. I lived the War of Art book and I thought of it recently to reread.

Thank you for this perspective, Sillas. I have been noticing increased resistance lately and often took it as a guide or where I might be deviating off my alignment but this perspective is giving me a new way of working with autopilot mode in me vs intentional living 💜💛💚💙❤️

Good, concise explanation of one of the mysteries of existence.

Enjoyed this…. Very often the obstacle is the way yet we resist and try to avoid it. Its ironic as once we take action we learn, grow and get stronger. Yet our minds still try to distract and lead us into avoidance…. Defo a practise that’s coming up a lot for me right now. So I’m giving it a seat at my table. 😊🙏🏻 timely meditation 🧘‍♀️ thanks

This was really helpful in terms of re-conceptualizing my relationship with resistance. As someone with ADHD I often feel resistance in the form of frustration or guilt. If I can find a way to greet the resistance with love instead of turning inwards against myself. I think I can learn to work through it. Do you have any helpful affirmations or phrases you can use for when you feel the resistance physically or mentally?

Really helpful explanation of what's happening when I feel stuck and low on motivation in any part of my life. Thanks

This is good information. Thank you. I have struggled with this for years, and today, for some reason, the idea came into my head that there must be a scientific reason behind this.

Thank you SO much, Silas - I’ve just listened to your ‘rant’ on resistance, whilst in the very act of resisting something meaningful which I had planned and wanted to be doing today! I really appreciated your insightful words on resistance, which has been a subtle “enemy” of mine over many years. As I’d wished to start 2024 with a new approach to my old ‘sparring partner, resistance’, your suggestion of getting to know and befriend it feels very apt, and chimes with what - on an intuitive level - I know I need to do. Very helpful 😊🙏 Happy New Year and wishing you all the very best…

Thank you Silas - you completely hit the nail on the head in terms of how resistance works and how we can embrace it to work with us. You provided a great explanation. Thank you 🙏!

Touched on a topic that rarely gets talked about. Also really got me off my ass, thank you :)

Hi Silas I certainly resonate with what you say. My resistance can also take the form of doing rather than not doing. I suppose it's the other side of the coin. It's helpful occasionally to listen to a talk on InsightTimer. A mini podcast on a useful topic. Thank you. 🙏🏻💞

Thank you! It’s good to know that it’s common and normal to have such feeling. And what is better - we can deal with them and achieve the goals.

Great talk. It seems the brain wants to take the shortest path to pleasure. The pleasure is short lived and at times associate with a feeling of loss and wanting more. Our human complexities surely make overcoming the resistance very difficult.

Loved it. I went thru this phase badly 3 years ago and started noticing my resistance and that helped me make progress!

So insightful. Love the suggestion to make an ally of your resistance to help bring attention to what you should be doing. Good way to go inwards and ask why you are struggling. Thank you. I found this so helpful!
