This is Marusy Price.
Today we'll be going on a guided meditative journey together.
Let's find a comfortable place to sit.
Make sure your back is straight.
Close your eyes if you wish and take a deep breath in,
Allowing the air to fill your lungs.
As you exhale,
Let go of any burdens of the day that you may still be clinging on to.
Relax your jaw,
Your shoulders.
Breathe in again and then slowly breathe out.
Feel how your muscles are getting more and more relaxed.
See any tiredness leave in your neck,
Your hands,
Your chest,
Abdomen,
Thighs,
Calves,
And your feet.
Imagine yourself standing tall in the heart of a rainforest,
Sunlight tapering through a mesmerizing canopy of emerald giants.
Feel the warm,
Humid air caress your skin,
Thick with the perfume of countless blossoms,
Damp leaves,
And rich,
Dark soil.
Breathe deeply and feel how your lungs are filling with this intoxicating aroma,
Letting the symphony of rainforest life begin within you.
Inhale slowly,
Feeling the tension in your body melt away with each breath.
Exhale gently,
Releasing anything that no longer serves you,
Letting it dissipate into the vibrant jungle air.
Repeat this ritual,
Becoming deeply connected to the present moment,
To the vibrant life pulsating around you.
Curious what you'll find ahead,
You step onto the damp forest path.
Sunlight filters through the dense canopy,
Casting bright specks that dance on the moss-covered ground.
Massive,
Undulating ferns unfurl like lush jade feathers,
Their delicate edges glistening with morning dew,
The vibrant green shimmers with an almost otherworldly intensity,
Hinting at the hidden secrets lurking within the verdant labyrinths.
Vines twist and intertwine around ancient,
Mysterious,
And mysterious plants,
And you can feel the warmth of the forest,
Their surfaces mottled with intensely-coloured mosses and orchids.
Bromeliads cling to high branches,
Their waxy leaves like jade chalices holding miniature ecosystems of rainwater,
And you can feel the warmth of the forest.
You can feel the warmth of the forest.
You can feel the warmth of the forest.
Waxy leaves like jade chalices holding miniature ecosystems of rainwater and vibrant insects.
The air hums with unseen life,
A hidden conversation carried on the backs of shimmering dragonflies and flitting butterflies.
Your gaze descends,
Drawn to the tapestry of the forest floor.
Each leaf,
Bright green-veined and dew-kissed,
Vibrates with a silent energy.
You reach out and brush your fingertips against the soft moss that carpets the ancient roots.
It's cool and damp,
Yielding slightly under your touch,
Like living velvet.
A thousand tiny tendrils whisper against your skin,
Secrets of the forest floor transmitted through an unspoken language of texture and temperature.
The scent of damp earth and decaying leaves rises,
Mingling with the musky sweetness of hidden blooms.
You close your eyes,
Inhaling deeply,
Feeling the pulse of the rainforest thrumming beneath your fingertips,
Connecting you to this verdant world in a way that words can't express.
As you release your breath,
A sense of calm washes over you.
The anxieties of your world are replaced by the quiet peace of the undergrowth.
The forest whispers its secrets,
Not in words,
But in the symphony of senses.
Each touch,
Each scent,
Each brilliant detail.
I'll leave you here for a while to enjoy this peaceful scene.
Suddenly,
A flash of vibrant blue catches your eye.
A parrot,
With a chest the color of a fiery sunset,
Flutters between the leaves,
Its sharp beak snatching at plump,
Dark berries.
The air is filled with the rhythmic drum of its wings,
Punctuated by the squawk of other unseen birds,
Deeper in the entangled foliage.
Your eyes trace the bird as it disappears into the maze,
Carrying a piece of the jungle's energy with it.
Soon you continue your walk,
Following the path deeper into the heart of the forest.
Sunlight dims,
Replaced by a lush twilight,
Caused by the dense vegetation.
The air pulses with the unseen hum of countless insects,
Weaving its way through the leaves.
Each step feels like sinking into a living tapestry,
Your senses overwhelmed by the sheer exuberance of life.
And then,
You step into an enchanted wonderland.
Centuries of butterflies are swarming around you,
Their wings,
Like stained glass,
Come alive,
Each a masterpiece painted by nature's hand.
Gorgeous black-and-yellow swallowtails glide through the air in lazy spirals,
Their iridescent scales catching the fielded sunlight like tiny mirrors.
Brilliant red-and-black calicoes dance on invisible currents,
Their wings mimicking the flames of fallen leaves.
Bright orange julias tart between flowering vines,
Their wings like slices of sunshine caught in flight.
But the true stars of this show are the morphos,
Dazzling metallic blue butterflies,
The size of saucers,
Glide through the air like spirits of the forest.
Their wings shimmer with an impossible sheen,
Reflecting the entire spectrum of light in a compelling display.
One,
A morpho with wings the color of a summer sky,
Lands on your outstretched left hand.
You hold your breath,
Mesmerized by its delicate form,
The intricate veins etched on its wings like tiny lightning bolts.
Its antennae twitch,
Sensing your presence.
And then,
With a silent flutter,
It takes flight,
Disappearing back into the kaleidoscope of color.
The serenade of wings fades as you continue your walk,
The path opening up to reveal a magnificent waterfall.
Cascading water crashes down rocky outcrops,
Mist rising to mingle with the leaves of tropical greenery,
Creating a curtain of gleaming diamonds bathed in sunlight.
The roar of the falls fills your ears,
A deep,
Primal rhythm that vibrates through your very being.
The cool mist brushes your face,
Carrying the scent of fresh water,
Damp earth,
And the invigorating energy of the forest.
Step closer and allow the power of the waterfall to wash over you.
Close your eyes and breathe deeply,
Filling your lungs with the majesty of life around you.
Then reach into your backpack and pull out a small flask,
A gift from a local who shared stories of the rainforest as you sipped his homemade cacao.
Unscrew the top and bring the flask to your lips.
The aroma is rich and earthy,
With hints of vanilla and spice.
Take a small sip,
Letting the warm liquid coat your tongue.
It's dark and smooth,
With a deep bitterness that melts into a creamy sweetness.
The taste of the rainforest explodes in your mouth.
The damp soil,
The sun-warmed leaves,
The exotic fruits,
The richness and the beauty all around you.
Close your eyes and savour the sensation,
Feeling the warmth spread through your body,
Chasing away any lingering tension.
Each sip unlocks a memory,
A glimpse of sunlight tappling through leaves,
The sweet crunch of a ripe papaya,
The rumble of distant thunder.
It's a taste of adventure,
Of connection to something incredibly ancient and wise.
With a sigh of contentment,
You replace the flask and turn to leave.
One last glance at the waterfall,
One last inhale of the rainforest's vibrant aroma,
And then you begin your walk back.
The sunlight feels brighter now,
Filtering through the leaves like a spotlight on your path.
As you step into the familiar trail,
The butterflies return,
Fluttering around you like living confetti.
And now,
Let's go back to your breath.
Inhale deeply,
Filling your lungs with the comforting scent of home,
The familiar scent of pine needles and sun-warmed earth.
This isn't just the forest you came from.
It's the forest within you,
The myriad of experiences woven into your being.
Exhale slowly,
Letting go of all the worries and cares you brought with you,
Releasing them into the rainforest air.
Take a few moments to ground yourself in your present reality.
Wiggle your toes,
Flex your fingers,
Feel the solidity beneath you.
Bring your awareness back to your surroundings,
Noticing the sights,
Sounds and smells around you.
Open your eyes if you have them closed,
Feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
The rainforest journey may be over,
But the magic stays with you.
The vivid colors,
The tapestry of sounds,
The bohemian taste of the cacao,
They're all threads woven into the fabric of your being.
Remember,
You are a part of this miraculous world,
And the rainforest in its own way is a part of you.
Carry this connection with you,
A source of strength and inspiration,
And let it guide you on your own life's adventure.
And I'd now like you to spare a few minutes to answer the following questions.
How did this mental trip to the rainforest make you feel?
While you were walking amongst the massive undulating ferns,
How did you feel?
Were you able to detect any secrets while you were in the rainforest?
What particular sound helped you get transported to the rainforest?
How did you feel when the mournful butterfly landed on your left hand?
What word would you use to describe your stop by the waterfall?
What memories did drinking the homemade cacao unlock for you?
Thank you.
And finally,
If you want to expand this practice further,
Here is a prompt for your next journaling session.
Reflect on a moment in your life when you felt deeply connected to your sense of self,
Akin to inhaling the fresh air of nature.
Feeling the comforting scent of home.
Describe the circumstances surrounding this moment and how it made you feel.
Consider the various experiences,
Memories and emotions that contribute to your sense of identity,
Much like the diverse elements of a forest.
How do these experiences shape who you are?
And how do they influence the decisions you make and the paths you choose in life?
Take some time to explore the depth of your inner forest and the significance it holds in shaping your journey.
Remember to breathe and let the magic of the rainforest guide your writing practice.
