Welcome to this 5 minute rapid yoga nidra practice.
I am your guide and I will shortly be taking you through a powerful sequence that will reset your body and your mind so that you feel rested in just a short space of time.
You are welcome to do this practice in a seated position or lying down.
Before we start I would like to invite you to subscribe so that you get early access to my new yoga nidra practices.
Take a moment now to close down your eyes or take an unfocused gaze and gently sense in to where your attention is currently placed.
Is your mind busy?
Are you scanning your external environment through your senses focused on sounds or light?
Now you've gathered a sense of where your attention is at,
Imagine that you could gather all your attention and gently guide it down to drift into your body like a flower being drifted around by a breeze.
Drift your attention away from the thinking mind into the body.
And now place your attention and your feeling into the sensations in the top of your head,
Your whole face,
Feel into the sensations and relax down any muscles in your face,
The inside of your mouth,
The temperature in your mouth.
Notice your tongue position and relax it down.
Sense into the middle of your throat,
Base of the throat,
Your heart centre.
Allow a sense of what brought you here today to fill your awareness at your heart centre.
This is your sankalpa or intention.
Now move your attention to the top of both of your arms,
Both elbows,
Both lower arms,
Both hands.
Now imagine that you could breathe in and out of both of your palms.
There is no need to change the shape of your breath here,
Just in and out through the centre of your palms.
Drift your attention to your navel centre,
The left of your pelvic bowl all the way to the right of your pelvic bowl,
Both thighs,
Both knees,
Both calves and both feet together.
And now imagine that you could inhale from the soles of your feet all the way up to the top of your head and on the exhale back down from the top of your head to the soles of your feet.
Draw your inhale up from the soles of your feet and exhale from the top of your head back down through the body.
Repeat this at your own pace.
And now rest your attention back on your heart centre,
Feeling into the sensations that appear here as you deeply rest for just a moment more.
And now in your mind whisper,
I am practicing yoga nidra.
With your eyes still closed,
Start to gather a sense of your surroundings again.
Focus in on what you can hear,
Any smells,
Scents or aromas.
And now notice the light touching your eyelids.
And whenever you're ready,
Gently begin to move in whatever way feels wakeful to you,
Slowly and lightly.
Your yoga nidra practice is complete,
So whenever you're ready,
Open your eyes and allow yourself to adjust to being awake and present.
I hope that you have enjoyed this short reset practice today.
