Practicing yoga nidra in the morning is a really powerful practice.
The sequence today can bring you into alignment with your desires so that you can move through your day feeling authentic and acting in full alignment with your highest intentions.
So make yourself comfortable and take a few moments to move into a position that feels restful and supportive.
Slowly feel your body melting into the support and begin to tune into your body.
Notice your breath without changing anything,
Simply noticing your breath at your nostrils.
Feel the quality of the air as it moves in and out of your nostrils.
It may feel warm or cool.
You may notice some scents or just the sense of the air lightness.
Keep your attention on the air as it moves in and out of your nostrils.
Now we're going to invite in your sankalpa or your intention.
Think of this as a vow to yourself from your heart.
It can be based on a deep desire,
For example a desire to be healthy,
Fulfilled or confident,
But it is framed as a supportive I statement of intention.
So take a moment now to allow your sankalpa to reveal itself to you.
If nothing appears that is okay,
You can use this one.
I embrace today with calmness and compassion for myself and others.
Now your intention is formed in your mind,
Whisper it one more time in your mind again.
Gather the sense of your sankalpa being formed and existing within your mind.
Now allow your sankalpa to drift down from your mind and into your heart centre,
In the centre of your chest.
Only you will know how to guide it from your mind to your heart centre.
It may be via a colour,
A temperature or even a property such as a wave carrying it down through your body as the sea carries pebbles.
Whichever feels right for you,
Guide your sankalpa down from your mind to your heart centre.
Now in whichever way you visualised your sankalpa drifting to your heart centre,
Imagine that same property carrying your sankalpa from your heart centre throughout your entire body.
Starting from the heart centre,
Spreading through your entire body.
Feel your body unconditionally accepting your intention.
Feel the energy and frequency of your sankalpa throughout your entire being.
Each muscle and fibre of you vibrates to the frequency of your unique heart's desire.
Release that,
And drift your attention back up to your third eye centre,
And bask in the vastness here,
Knowing that your sankalpa is integrating all on its own without you needing to do anything except having your attention up to your third eye centre.
Now,
As I call out each body part,
Feel into the sensations that exist in each part of your body.
Approach these sensations with curiosity and lightness,
Allowing them to be exactly how they are.
You don't need to change anything.
So place your awareness on the toes on your left foot,
Feeling the sensation in each toe,
But together,
All at once,
On your left foot.
Now add to your awareness your toes on the right foot,
Feeling all of your toes on both feet together.
Now slowly move your awareness up to the soles of both of your feet.
Both of your heels.
Both ankles.
Calves.
Knees.
Thighs.
Drift your attention from the left of the pelvic bowl all the way over to the right of your pelvic bowl.
Feel your whole pelvis and hips together.
Feel your lower back.
Navel centre.
Solar plexus.
Both sides of your chest.
Your heart centre.
Your left shoulder.
Your right shoulder.
Your left arm.
Your right arm.
Both hands.
Both thumbs.
All of your fingers on both hands together.
Gently drift your attention back to your heart centre.
Both collarbones.
Centre of your throat.
Both sides of your jaw.
Both cheekbones.
Both eyelids.
Feel the sensations and flickering of both eyelids.
Your third eye centre in between your eyebrows.
The top of your head.
Now imagine that you can breathe in and out from the top of your head.
Without changing the pattern or shape of your breath,
Draw the air in imagining it moving all the way down to your body to your heart centre.
Breathing in and out from the top of your head all the way down to your heart centre.
Now bring back your sankalpa and repeat it three times in your mind's eye.
I embrace today with calmness and compassion for myself and others.
Next I'm going to give you a question to invite an answer in from your highest self.
This is the self that exists authentically within each of us and we can connect with them at any time that we require guidance.
When asking the question simply let an answer reveal itself to you.
It is okay if nothing comes to you straight away or if it's a felt sense rather than an answer of words.
Just trust that your highest self will reveal the answer to you at the right time.
Ask yourself this question,
What do I need from myself today in order to be in alignment with my intention?
Now rest your attention back on your heart centre and take a moment to let the answer that you receive or the felt sense reveal itself to you.
Or the anticipation of an answer integrate here now in your heart centre.
Take a moment to feel deep compassion for this practice today.
In your heart centre feel into compassion for yourself.
Thank yourself for the practice today as you pass the benefits on to your loved ones,
Your community,
Your society.
So bask in this deep compassion resting at your heart centre for just a moment more.
And when you're ready in your mind whisper,
I am practicing yoga nidra.
With your eyes still closed feel the grounding of the support beneath you.
Begin to focus in on any sounds around you or my voice.
And become aware of the objects that surround you without opening your eyes.
Gently move in whatever way feels wakeful to you,
Slowly,
With lightness and ease.
If you're using an eye pillow with your eyes still closed you might want to do so.
Your yoga nidra practice is now complete,
So when you're ready open your eyes and allow yourself to be awake and present.
And you can carry the wisdom and sense that you've cultivated with yourself into the rest of the day.
Thank you for joining me for your practice today.

Beautiful practice :) Consider including more silent time towards the end, and acknowledging the origins/lineage of the teachings for future sessions.
