Let's go ahead and find a comfortable seat,

Resting your tailbone on a cushion or a chair,

Allowing the hands to fall,

And taking any of those last-minute movements,

Those fidgets that we take before we really give ourselves the permission to sink in,

To center and to give ourselves this gift of focus and self-care.

Once you've gotten those out,

Maybe lengthen the sides of the waist,

The sides of the neck,

Soften the jaw,

Relax the shoulders,

And just allow the weight of your body to fall towards the chair,

And start to bring a fluid movement into your breath.

You're noticing the movement of the outside world coming in,

And the air on the inside world pressing back out.

Just take a few simple breaths to get ourselves here.

Sometimes in this journey,

You can feel really lost,

Really unsure,

Not knowing what the next step is,

Not knowing where to look,

Not knowing what you should even be working on.

There may be coming to this from a dark night of the soul,

Some that I've experienced in my own life,

And really why I love being able to share this with you,

And knowing that a spiritual journey is a whole lot of ups and downs,

And it's the downs that really grow us,

That really show us truly not only who we are,

But make us appreciate who that we are becoming.

And it's about understanding that no matter where this meditation finds you in your journey,

It's embodying that you are,

We are right where we need to be.

And to further root us down in this meditation,

I'd like you to imagine yourself as a tree.

Imagine wherever your tailbone is on the chair or the floor as the base of the tree,

And you're growing the roots down into the ground.

If you're on a chair,

Maybe the feet are part of those roots.

And with each breath,

I'd like you to imagine yourself planting down into the ground,

Feeling your roots dive under,

And seeing if you can feel a lightness in your upper body,

In your arms as they represent the swaying trees.

And the reason that we use this picture of a tree is because we've never saw a tree that was in the wrong place.

Maybe some people can think it's in the wrong place,

But trees grow where they're supposed to be growing,

In their own unique way,

With their own unique look.

But you can look at each tree,

Look deep into what that tree is,

And you can see they're all beautiful,

And they're all a part of nature,

And they're all working towards the same goal.

So breathe in the roots of your tree,

And just take a moment to settle in this space.

Sometimes with that,

The feeling that we're lost,

Or that there's an unknown,

You know,

We have a lot that we can or we should be doing,

But we're just feeling so overwhelmed,

So unsure,

Because there's so much that you might want to do that you kind of might not even know where to begin,

Or you're just feeling so down that it's impossible to even get out of bed and to work on that thing that you know that you want to work on.

Or you just feel stuck.

Whatever that feeling is,

Overwhelmed,

Lost,

Stuck,

Unsure,

Fearful,

You know,

What meditation teaches us is we don't have to run from it.

What we instead do is we embrace that feeling,

And we see it as a sign that we are exactly where we need to be.

So as you breathe,

I'd like you to imagine what that feeling is,

That fearful,

Lost,

Depressed feeling.

Maybe it helps to think of a specific moment in your life that you were feeling this.

And see if you can notice what it makes your body feel like.

Where does that feeling manifest?

Is it a tightness in the chest?

Maybe in the neck,

The stomach,

Might make you feel queasy.

Life is just a general feeling,

Just see if you can be and sit and breathe with that.

We're going to practice not judging that this is a problem.

So often we try and run away from feeling lost,

That we think we have a problem of.

When in reality,

It's not a problem.

It's perfect.

It's part of who we are in this moment.

And what it's doing to us is growing us.

So like a growth spurt,

Sometimes it can be painful.

We don't have to fix it.

We learn how to breathe and relax into it.

Relax into this part of your body,

Just being with the uncomfort.

There's nothing to run from.

There's nothing to be scared of.

Nothing to resist and push away and say that something is wrong.

And with each breath,

See if you can just relax into the experience a little more.

There's nothing wrong with you that you feel this way.

You don't have to hate yourself for it or be mad,

Be down.

Just let go of any of those judgments and just breathe and find the ease.

Just like you're a tree,

Just being with all of the storms and the winds and the light.

And let's take a deep breath in and let that go.

Now I'd like you to imagine a figure that exemplifies reassurance for you.

It may be a figure like God or a God.

It can be an avatar like Jesus,

The Buddha,

Krishna,

Mohammed.

And maybe the universe working out for you is your figure.

Or maybe a parent or a mentor figure that you have in your life,

Someone that is a symbol for reassurance.

A symbol that things are going to work out.

It can also just be a picture or a book that you have read.

One or something that is a sign of reassurance.

I'd like you to see the energy of this person in the form of a light in front of you.

Just take a few moments to notice how you're feeling with this person or figure or just this energy of this book,

Symbol,

Picture in front of you.

Let me give you,

Imagine this energy,

Intuiting to you these words.

You are right where you need to be.

Being lost is a sign that you are on your own path.

Everything is working out perfectly and for your highest good.

You are supported by forces that you can't see.

You are right where you need to be.

Remember that feeling lost is a sign that you are on your own unique path.

Everything is working out just perfectly.

Everything is working out for your highest good.

You are so supported by forces that your eyes can't see.

Take a deep breath and allow that light,

That support,

That reassurance to start to make its way into your body and allow that light to sit at your heart.

And we are going to now reaffirm that within ourselves with the reassurance deeply embedded.

I am right where I need to be.

Feeling lost is the sign that I am on my own unique path.

Everything is working out perfectly.

Everything is working out for my highest good.

I am so supported by forces that I can't see.

I am right where I need to be.

Feeling lost is a sign that I am on my own path.

Everything is working out perfectly and for my highest good.

I am supported by forces that I can't see.

Allow any of those to really sink in knowing that you are so supported,

You are so loved.

And just for a moment I would like you to imagine a future where you feel more freedom.

You don't have this lost or unsure or overwhelmed feeling.

You feel bright.

You feel like you are appropriately busy.

You feel like life is flowing and you are open.

Maybe it's you are imagining that dream that you have been working on coming to fruition.

Maybe you are imagining some time with loved ones,

Free,

Open.

Knowing that all of that energy is still right here with us.

And that in order to bring these things into our life we have to go through our own growth period.

Because our tree is perfect and right where it needs to be.

Maybe just breathe in to that vision just for a few more moments.

Then when you are ready you can slowly start to come back into your body.

Maybe start to roll out some movements,

Maybe roll out your shoulders and start to come back into what you are coming into,

Your room.

A place in your own.

And whenever you feel ready you can open your eyes.

I know that things are tough sometimes.

But I also know that through the tears,

Through the heartache,

Through the questioning,

That guidance and reassurance is there.

And I hope that you find that.

I hope that you embody that and see that things are working out.

And I will be thinking of you.

So thank you for practicing with me.

Namaste.
