Welcome.
You have arrived at the middle of your day.
And I would like to invite you to stop here for a little while.
Not because anything is wrong and not because you have fallen behind.
Simply because this is a lovely moment to remember something you may have forgotten a few hours ago.
Find a position that feels comfortable.
If you are at a desk,
Let your feet rest flat on the floor.
If you're out and about,
Find a bench or a quiet corner.
Let your hands rest.
Wherever they are happy.
Take a deep breath in.
And let it out slowly.
Let the day fall away from your shoulders for a moment.
Breathe in again.
And as you breathe out,
Feel your body begin to soften.
Now,
Let the breath return to its own natural rhythm.
Notice the rise and fall of your chest or belly.
Feel the small movements of your body breathing.
You do not need to change anything.
Simply notice.
Notice any places where your body has been holding on this morning.
Perhaps the jaw.
The forehead or the muscles around the eyes.
Perhaps the shoulders creeping up towards the ears.
Breathe into those places.
And let them loosen.
As if you were setting down something you did not realize you were carrying.
Now you may notice your mind is still busy.
There may be conversations replaying,
Or things you meant to do,
Or things still to come.
That is completely fine.
Thoughts are like crazy trains of thought passing through a station.
You do not have to get on every single one.
You can stand on the platform.
Breathe.
And let the train leave without you.
Each time you notice you have hopped on board,
Simply return to the breath.
Return to the feeling of your feet on the floor.
Return to my voice.
There is no failing here.
Only coming back.
Here is something worth gently seeing.
By the middle of the day,
Many of us believe we are stressed because of everything that has happened.
Because of the emails,
The demands,
The people.
It seems so obvious.
Yet the feeling of stress is never coming from outside.
It is created in the moment through our thinking.
And thought is passing through us all the time.
When we see this,
Something relaxes.
If the feeling is coming from thought,
Then this is not the truth about us.
It is not the truth about them.
And it is not the truth about our day.
It is simply a passing state.
Like weather.
Life will still life.
And underneath the weather,
The sky is always clear.
Let yourself rest in that clear sky right now.
Notice that the part of you that is aware of the busyness is not itself busy.
It is quiet.
It is spacious.
It is present.
That awareness is the calm you are looking for.
And it has been here all morning.
Take a breath.
And let it carry a little appreciation.
Look around you.
Or imagine looking around.
Find something.
That in this moment is simply pleasant.
The warmth of a mug.
The light through a window.
A colleague's kindness,
A bit of birdsong,
The fact that you've made it to the middle of the day.
Let your attention rest on it for a few moments.
Notice what appreciation does.
It does not add anything.
It only clears the way for the good feeling that is already available.
When we appreciate.
Our thinking softens.
And our natural well-being rises to meet us.
Now bring your attention to presence.
This moment right here.
You are not in the meeting that has not happened yet.
You are not in the conversation from this morning.
You are here.
Breathing,
Alive and perfectly fine.
Feel how the present moment is always more spacious than the story about it.
Let yourself allow.
Allow this moment to be as it is,
Including any feelings that are moving through.
When we stop pushing against a feeling.
It does what feelings do.
It shifts.
It softens.
It moves on.
Allowing is not giving up.
It is simply trusting that you are safe to feel whatever is here.
Take another slow breath.
And feel yourself settling further.
You might notice that the pace of your thinking has slowed.
There may be a little more room between one thought and the next.
In that room is where clarity lives.
It is where wisdom speaks quietly and without fuss.
You are not a machine that needs to be optimized.
You are a human being with a beautiful,
Natural,
Inner intelligence that becomes easy to hear when the noise settles.
Imagine now that you are carrying this feeling back into your afternoon.
Not as a technique,
Not as something to remember to do.
But simply as an understanding.
That the calm is already inside you.
That thought is just passing through.
And that you can return to presence whenever you notice you have drifted.
See how differently the afternoon looks from here.
The tasks are still there.
And so other people.
Yet they look lighter.
More manageable.
Because you are looking at them from a quieter place.
On that.
Take a few more breaths in your own time.
Feel the lift in your body.
Feel the softening in your face.
Feel how good it is to simply be here,
Without needing anything to be different.
When you are ready.
Begin to bring your awareness back to the room.
Notice the sounds around you.
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
Let your eyes open gently if they were closed.
As you return to your day,
Remember that this pause is always available.
One breath.
One moment of noticing.
And you are back home.
Your calm has not gone anywhere.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
