Welcome,
I just want to share the inspiration for today's practice.
Thanks to a friend,
I have recently changed the way I approach or look at myself as a teacher.
That word teacher really sounds super official,
Like with it there's going to be a curriculum and tests and memorization and things that we have to do.
And while in some cases in the work I do I guess there is that,
Thanks to my friend I have really shifted the way that I see myself.
Instead of a teacher,
Really more I see myself as just someone who is sharing,
As a sharer.
And that word just feels a lot more true for me because I do feel like that's simply what I'm doing.
I am sharing things that feel right,
I'm sharing things that feel inspired,
And I'm working to get out of my own way and allow what wants to come out of me through.
And the more I do that,
The more I am vulnerable and really let out what feels right,
The more I see that I connect deeper with other people.
And what I've understood is it's because that when I share from my heart,
You or whoever it is,
Your heart,
That same experience within you connects with that because we are all having the same experiences,
We are on this same journey.
And I find that any teacher really what they're working to do is to offer you a reflection deeper into yourself because we have those same qualities within us.
And a teacher is really not teaching you anything,
It's just helping you to remember and become that which you already are,
To find your light,
Your love,
Your truth.
And from that space,
You can then go about this world and be more connected and share your light,
Share your heart with others.
And that is the ripple effect.
So after you do this practice,
You feel more connected,
You have the impact on people that you come across today,
And then maybe they feel more connected and they have the impact on people across,
And it goes on and on and on.
And it starts right here with me just sharing my heart in hopes that it connects with your heart,
And then you can share your light and your love to all of those that you come across today.
So let's go ahead and begin our practice.
Taking any movements that you need to take,
And allow your body to start to settle,
Allow the eyes to close if they're not,
And just come into the support of your cushion or your chair,
And come into the lightness of your breath.
And just taking a few moments to feel the rhythm of your breathing.
Feel the expanse on each inhale,
And further root and release on each exhale.
And just finding a few moments here.
Go ahead and just lengthen the sides of the body,
Soften through the face,
Through the shoulders,
Through the belly.
And just start to connect with any energy that is kind of happening both inside of you,
Any noises.
It might just be the noise of your breath.
It might be the noise of your heartbeat.
Maybe some crinks or some cracklings.
All of this energy within us that's moving.
Just taking a moment to tune in.
And if it helps you to follow the breath,
You can always note inhaling and exhaling as you move through each.
I'm starting to move from inside to any noises that are happening outside of your body.
Maybe just right in your room.
Maybe you can hear things going on outside.
Continuing to keep the rhythm of your breathing as we now tune in to our outside world.
And then,
Lastly,
Tuning in to the space between what we connect to inside and what we hear outside.
Maybe there are noises or other people that are in our house or just outside of our house or around in our world.
And often we think there's nothing in between us.
There's nothing in between you and the wall.
There's nothing in between you and another person.
But if we break down the air,
Break down what is the elements of that air,
We find that we have those same elements within us.
So truly we are connected to each and everything and each and everyone.
So see if you can fill your spirit and find with each breath connecting to those invisible energies that seem like empty space.
Opening to the space between inside and outside and all in between.
And let's all take a breath in.
And let that go.
Start to bring your awareness into your heart space.
Maybe even feel a little widening through the chest.
Feeling a little bit of a softness through your heart as we will move forward and work from the space as we move through our practice.
And I'd like you to imagine an empty room.
Although we have our energy in our heart space,
We can still come into our mind's eye and create a visualization of an empty room.
And in the room are seated two chairs or two cushions,
Whatever you're seated on right now.
You see two of those in the middle of this room.
You go ahead and find yourself seated on one of them.
And you look out into the other one,
Which is just an empty chair or cushion right now.
And come back to your breath.
And again bringing your energy into your heart space.
I'd like you to begin to imagine a beautiful bright light that is starting at the center of your heart.
And you can imagine the light going outside of your body,
So outside of your heart,
Kind of taking over your upper torso.
Or you're welcome to imagine the light just staying inside of your body.
And from this space of your heart,
See if you can start to send that light and send that energy through your arms and down into your hands.
It doesn't matter wherever your hands are placed.
It can be on your thighs.
It can be between your hips.
Just feeling the light from your heart and that energy move through shoulders,
Arms,
And into your hands.
And you begin to allow each breath to increase the energy and deepen into this light.
And it's this space that we're looking to really act from,
From our heart,
From our inner light.
Because there are people out there who need your light,
Who need your heart.
They need to hear what you have to share,
Whether that be your words,
Your love,
Your talents,
Your care,
Your truth.
You may not know what it is or how you should share it,
But right now it doesn't matter.
This light in your heart right here is what you have to share.
And people will recognize this light because it will be just like their own.
Now I'd like you to imagine someone that you care about who could use this light,
This love that you have to share.
And like you imagine this person walking into the room and taking a seat in front of you.
And if it feels okay for you,
See if you can take their hand in your hand.
So you might feel your palms lift up to symbolize that.
You might keep your hands just where they are and imagine yourself taking this person's hand in your hand.
And just notice for a moment how does it feel to sit and to breathe with this person holding their hand.
And continue to feel the light and the love within your heart.
Begin to send from your heart,
Send the light out through your arms,
Through your hands and begin to send it into this person that you care about.
Physically,
Metaphorically sharing this light with them.
And as you feel this light pour out,
If it's okay and feels right for you,
Imagine yourself looking this person right in the eye.
And begin to say to them.
And you're welcome to say this out loud.
You're welcome to say this in your head.
You're welcome to listen to me.
Your light shines brighter than you can see.
You have a unique purpose and a gift.
May you share your light in your gift with others.
May you find peace,
Love and happiness on the way.
May you trust your journey.
And just take another moment to share any last words or feelings of love and light to this person.
And go ahead and take a breath in.
And let it go.
And seeing this person now leave the room and again looking at an empty seed coming back into your heart,
Coming back into your light and finding your breath.
And this time I'd like you to begin to imagine someone come into the room that you don't know.
That this person could really use your light and what you have to share.
Someone who may really need it.
You can imagine a stranger,
Maybe it's someone in another country who's facing poverty or facing real dire circumstances.
Or it might be a homeless person.
You can imagine any symbolism of a person that you feel like could use your love and your light.
Bringing them in front of you,
Maybe again going ahead and holding their hand.
Noticing how it feels to do this with someone that you are making up,
You don't even know.
Mother Teresa would say that she saw Jesus in the face of all of the people that she helped.
That you may not see Jesus,
But you can still see that same light and that same love.
Even if it might be hard.
Even when it might not seem like it's there.
So take a moment to start to again come into your heart,
Breathing in that light and that love.
Sending it out through your arms,
Through your hands into this person who could use it.
And again repeating these words and saying it to them.
Your light shines brighter than you can see.
You have a unique purpose and a gift.
May you share your light and your gift with others.
May you find peace,
Love and happiness on the way.
May you trust your journey.
And take a breath in here.
Let it go.
Allowing this person to leave the room,
Coming back to yourself.
We are now going to imagine walking into the room as a younger version of you.
So you can imagine yourself as a child and it could be any age that feels right for you.
Maybe an age that you wish that this person would have received more light.
Or that you could have given them what you know right now.
Go ahead and have them sit in the cushion.
Go ahead and hold this younger version of you's hand.
Just breathing,
Feeling anything that might be coming up.
Again and from the heart,
From that space within us.
You get to breathe in,
Feeling the light.
And see if you can look this younger version of you in the eye.
Getting to send this light into their hands and into their heart.
And again repeating.
Your light shines brighter than you can see.
You have a unique purpose and a gift.
May you share your light and your gift with others.
May you find peace,
Love,
And happiness on the way.
May you trust your journey.
If there's anything else that you'd like to say to this younger version of you,
Any other love,
Appreciation,
Go ahead and say it and send that care out.
Giving this person,
Giving you what you wish you could have given yourself back then.
What you wish someone would have given you.
And when it feels right,
If you can allow this version of you to come and allow yourself to give your younger self a hug.
And almost as if you're bringing this child back into your body.
And it comes and it melts into your heart.
Bringing your younger child into your space here and now in this room.
Filled up with all of that energy and that love that you just gave.
And again finding your heart.
And this time seeing if we can give ourselves what we are looking to give to others.
That light and that love.
And it might feel okay for you to place one hand on your belly,
One hand on your heart.
And if you place two hands over your heart,
You're welcome to keep your hands just where they are.
Sending the light from our heart to ourselves,
Back into our heart.
Maybe feeling that light grow,
Circling our entire body.
And giving ourselves those words of what we need.
My light shines brighter than I can see.
I have a unique purpose and a gift.
May I share my light and my gift with others.
May I find peace,
Love and happiness on the way.
May I trust my journey.
And again take one last deep breath,
Filling it up.
And letting it go.
And slowly just become,
Slowly begin to come back into your body and into this room.
Let's just take a few moments just to sit,
Being with anything that might have come up,
Being with what is here right now.
And slowly,
Whenever you feel ready,
Gently open your eyes and begin to come back into your room.
I know that you have that gift and that light that is there for you to share at every moment of the day.
You don't have to find it,
You don't have to figure it out,
You just have to receive and be in the moment and allow out what wants to come out.
To get out of your own way and allow that higher energy to guide you.
Because there's people out there that really do need what you have and I know that because in my own growth I have seen that to be true.
And I am so grateful that I can be a guide and hopefully offer some of that reflection on your journey,
Sharing my heart and connecting to that part,
That light within you.
