Mornings When You're Already Exhausted

With Kate Plummer

Some mornings, the tiredness is already there before anything has happened. This is not because you stayed up too late, but because however much you slept, it didn't restore you. This 5-day course is for anyone who wakes already exhausted, whether from chronic fatigue, ongoing stress, a depleted nervous system, or sleep that simply isn't doing its job anymore. It starts with an important distinction: being sleep deprived and experiencing unrefreshing sleep are not the same thing, and the usual advice to "just sleep more" often misses the second one entirely. Drawing on the Viniyoga approach principle of meeting the body where it actually is, rather than where you wish it were, each day offers a small, sustainable step: understanding what's really happening when you wake exhausted, starting the day before you feel ready, building just enough capacity to move without depleting yourself further, working with dread or resistance instead of against it, and finally, building a morning practice you can realistically keep doing. Each lesson includes a short guided breath practice with no counting, no effort, no demand to feel transformed. It is just a steady, repeatable way to meet difficult mornings with a little more ease than before. This course does not attempt to treat or resolve underlying sleep or health conditions. If unrefreshing sleep is a persistent experience for you, please also speak with a medical professional.

Meet your Teacher

Kate Plummer has been practising yoga for over twenty years and teaching full-time for more than fifteen. She also has lived experience of chronic fatigue spanning twenty-five years, and this sits at the centre of her teaching rather than apart from it. Her work focuses on fatigue, low energy and the nervous system, not as abstract topics, but as something she navigates daily in her own body. This gives her teaching on exhaustion a particular honesty: she does not ask students to do anything she has not first tested against the realities of a body with limited and unpredictable energy. Her approach favours small, sustainable steps over intensity, built on the belief that a practice someone can actually keep doing is worth far more than one that demands too much.

Lesson 1

Why Mornings Feel Impossible When You're Already Depleted

This lesson explains the difference between being sleep deprived and experiencing sleep that simply doesn't restore you, a distinction that's often missed in advice about tiredness. It introduces the Viniyoga principle of meeting the body where it actually is each morning, rather than where you wish it were, and sets up the approach the rest of the course will build on.

Lesson 2

Starting Before You Feel Ready

This lesson looks at the gap between knowing you should get up and feeling like you have the energy to. It introduces the idea of beginning the day with breath before movement, so that you don't need to feel ready in order to start.

Lesson 3

Building Just Enough Capacity To Function

This lesson introduces a small amount of gentle movement, paired with the breath, using the principle of moving only as much as the body can absorb without depleting itself further. It addresses the two common extremes of pushing through fatigue or avoiding movement altogether.

Lesson 4

Working With Dread, Not Against It

This lesson names the emotional heaviness or resistance that often accompanies chronic fatigue, and explains why it's a logical response from a depleted nervous system rather than a flaw to overcome. It offers a way to create space around that resistance using the breath, rather than trying to push past it.

Lesson 5

A Morning Practice You Can Actually Sustain

This final lesson brings the course together around one central idea: that sustainability matters more than intensity. It offers a short, repeatable practice designed for ordinary, difficult mornings rather than only your best ones, so you have something dependable to return to.
